New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!

Could you run map 1 on stock plugs for a while with no issues or do you have to gap the plugs / swap to colder plugs?

At a minimal you should gap the oem plugs to .024

You might as well buy new colder plugs, you are going to have to remove the plugs to gap them anyways.

You could and may be fine, but its a gamble depending on what gap Kia set for your specific plugs. Unfortunately even completely stock Stingers had plug & coil issues and multiple people reported stock gaps as bad as .038".

The stock plugs themselves are good and you can run them on higher maps too just as long as your gaps are set around .026". For best performance and power BMS recommends Denso 5346 at .022" gaps, but they arent required.

Some people said they just ran map6 at 1.0-2.0psi until they got new or re-gapped plugs, so they at least get a taste on the extra power.

Why are we seeing torque drop over 4500rpm? I'm hearing no need for catbacks, also heard that downpipes are tiny, is that an airflow restriction? I would expect to see it stay flatish for another 1500 rpm...
In general, its a combination of our tiny twin turbos and airflow restrictions on both the intake & exhaust side. The tiny twin turbos can hit max boost really quickly ~1300rpm, but run out of efficiency around 4500rpm.

Catbacks help but arent needed and only add about 10-15whp. The DPs and secondary DPs(Midpipes/MPs) are the biggest airflow restrictions and gain ~30whp for MPs & ~40whp+ for primary DPs.

Most people opt for the MPs to avoid CEL & overboost issues from using DPs without a tune. You need a custom tune($800+) or a Lap3 Pro($1200) to run DPs without issues and not really worth it for only an extra 10whp.

If you truly need the torque curve to stay flattish for another 1500rpm+ you will need hybrid or Big turbos, but thats only if your trying to run 10s since stock turbos are already running mid 11s in the 1/4m.:D

Ahhh, good points. @Terry@BMS is this in the works for a DP/MP map? Admittedly, if I was to do anything, I'd be less likely to mess around with fuel and keep it at an easily attainable (and safe for my wife to fuel ;)) 91, but wouldn't pass up a DP/MP which I've had great success on past cars without switching out the rear sections.

I was looking at this, 1.25" to 2.4", that's nuts!

+1. I couldn't believe how tiny the turbos were when I saw them with the engine cover off...Had anyone else been around to see my tiny snails, I would have been embarrassed.

I thought the same thing . Kind of amazing they make as much power as they do with a little tune .

These cars are turning into the next mk4 Supra . Soon we will see some crazy big turbos and making 1000whp

Nothin' wrong with that, I'd rather rather have torque where I'm driving 90% of the time, which isn't over 5000rpm. Then there's the Tiny25 turbos that came on my 300zx and Talon back in the day, that were not only small, but slow to spool :)

Man...for a thread titled "New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!" it sure has been a while since we saw one. And yes, I realize I've been part of the problem. Maybe we could have another thread called Dyno Results...no, really!

Agree, but Dynos are not cheap. I personally will try to dyno my car this summer to see where I am at.

What do they run you where you are? I'm fixing to get one done eventually, but scheduling and all that. Haven't inquired yet.

JB4 does everything Lap3-Pro can. I think the reason people running Lap3-Pro with downpipes don't complain as much is there isn't as many of them and as they have no logging they really have no idea what is going on with their cars tuning anyway. :)

Some cars need WGDC reduced with downpipes and that requires EWG control on the JB4 end, which isn't released yet, or direct WGDC mapping in the ECU. The gains with DPs on good fuel is relatively small so in many cases just not worth the cost, headaches, and odor. Once we have EWG control active in the JB4 we'll revisit DPs.

Not much. usually around $100-140 for 3 pulls. Usually charge an additional 10-20 for AWD
Sweet, thought it'd be more. Now to find me a shop...

75 bucks for 3 pulls. The general charge is around $100 bucks for 3 pulls. Harder to find AWD Dynos.

Also worth keeping in mind just like drag racing there is a little skill to getting the highest dyno numbers.

You gents have inspired me to get off my butt and schedule one. Should have some results May 10th.

A skill that I believe I lack. But it'll be fun to see where I'm at anyhow.

Awesome!!

Please share the results!

Do your first run on Map 3 and then work your way down.

Would be interesting to see the difference between maps.
