That's fine. Your car your choices.
It just means you new air boxes ( as things are A.T.M ) are more for sound and looks than gains.
But I suppose you could pull those removeable plugs out of the airboxes for more air if you wanted to.....:sneaky:

Well I would assume aFe would have tested this system with all the OE ducting in place, either way I’m happy with it.

That's a good point ! ( and it begs the question )....

Damn shame you didn't have a dyno run showing the "before" so you could then see the "after".

And then, with those removable plugs out ( which might be how they got the figures with those ducts installed ) (?)

Too old for Dyno runs & even track did all that with my SS years ago.
I bought these because I like the look of them & what they offer out of the box & nothing more.
If I was into dyno & track I’d probably run different intakes & all the bells & whistles that‘s associated with it.

No you haven’t stepped on a nerve, Ive been there done that, for me & at my stage in life this car is all about being a good city/country cruiser with some mods that satisfy my itch.

I actually prefer the Velossa ones as they're big enough to do what needs to be done.

IMO, the JA ones are too big and will create almost a drag effect and create extra load on the mounting points ( assuming you're travelling at a decent speed most of the time ).

Also, with Velossa's you get more direct air than standard, which in turn means more bugs and dirt / dust directed towards the filters ( yes they should be changed from OEM and cleaned more often ) but with the JA's, 'significantly' more so.

But, to each their own.
Velossatech took JA guy to court and won, apparently, so I believe the Velossatech may be your only option, unless you find another one out there.
Apparently, there was a legal dispute. Well, that sucks.

Has anyone made an air box (of sorts) that walls off the Injens and mates with the Velossatechs? Or are the Velossatechs really all anyone needs at speed, because the movement of air is enough to keep things generally cool?

TWN 2RBO (Nick) has a video on the Injen carbon heat shields. I think the increased airflow is enough to keep air temps down but the shields may help too.

There is a 3D print available for intake scoops.
 
Is anyone running these charge pipes with the Injen Short Ram intakes? I'm tempted...

In for the long wait. I won't be canceling the order, so I'll be keeping my spot in line.

Yeah, also got the following on my intake order:
"Due to a large increase in demand, some delivery times may be a bit longer than normal. If your order is affected, we will contact you shortly with additional information."

Haven't received the additional information yet but I'm guessing it'll be back ordered, which is fine.
 
I got a 10-12 week window almost two weeks ago when I ordered my intake. I don't expect it to arrive until September.
 
I ordered my intake 7/1. Received an email that they will start shipping late August
 
I got the email saying early September for my intakes.

I already have DIY intakes, so I don't mind waiting.

The airbox inlet is still shielded from direct airflow but flows better than with the duct.

@dddd (fellow Aussie) measured the drop in restriction from 9 to 4 inches when removing just those ducts.

However, the Velossa Tech ducts actually create positive pressure in the airboxes above a certain speed which gives a more profound result again.

No one has ever done any flow analysis that I have ever seen, so really we are just all guessing at where the restrictions are. Hot air intakes exchange heat for volume (the entire engine bay), cold air intakes all use the existing passage through the radiator support, so they exchange volume for heat. Not to mention the theory that tunes need to take into account the change in intact air charge (volume and temperature).

We're all kinda flying by the seat of our pants here.

Are you stock boxes and just VTs currently? Or just older pic for reference? I really considered OE boxes with KN filters and VTs seems like perf would be similar to most intakes being sold

I have the VT's, stock boxes with AEM dry panels.

Works a treat without big $'s and looks factory when you open the hood.
