Hi All,

I'm back from Japan today and went to pickup my GT. Just a quick question to anyone who has a MY19 as to the tyres they got on their car. I was under the impression that the MY19s got Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. I have a sneaky feeling my dealer swapped wheels and put on the old Conti Contact 5s, as they are what is on my car. At pickup I did complain about this and had to actually inspect the build plate to make sure I was receiving an MY19 as promised. The plate reads June 2018 so I'm pretty confident its a 19. The salesman is supposed to ring me tomorrow to confirm that he will replace those tyres. Otherwise it does have all of the other features of the MY19 like the luggage sill plates and bezel less screen etc.

Thanks again all

Meeki

If you have interior mood lighting & a Stainless Steel Trunk Cover you have a MY19, another forum member @FitR6 has a June 18 build with these additions & has confirmed that she has a MY19, her car also has the Continentials, I am not sure but I’m sure I read somewhere if you wanted the Michelin’s it was $500 extra for AU customers. Also check your VIN if it does not have a J in it, it is a MY19.

My VIN doesn't have a J in it and i'm pretty sure its definitely a 19. However the AU brochure specifically states all models except the GT gets Conti sports and the GT definitely gets the Michelin. I just checked a few tyre companies the conti's are half the price of the Michelins roughly. So i'll be sure to point this out to the salesmen tomorrow. All advertising states michelin tyres on the GT model. I'll advise @FitR6 to check again if I have have success tomorrow. But when I was at the dealer, my salesman was not there but the other salesmen also reluctantly agreed that it should have the Michelins and that my salesman should sort that out tomorrow.

Hi Hiro,

The MY19 I received was a July 2018 and it has the Michelin PS 4 tyres. Very quiet and have decent grips.

I've noticed so far that those have received MY19 June 2018 builds have received the Continentals Sports while those that have received the July 2018 onwards have received the Michelins Pilot Sport 4 as stated on the website.

Was speaking to an owner of Micro Blue GT here in Canberra and his build is a June 2018 and it has the Continental Sports tyres fitted too.

What other MY19 features did you received on yours?

I have the sill plates, bezel less screen, mood lighting and footwell lighting.

Edit:

As far as I can gather, the only thing i'm missing is the Michelin tyres. Also, the spare key doesn't work at all even though the red light on the fob lights up when I press the button. I also wrote to KIA Australia to explain. I'll see what they have to say about it.

When you approach the car with the spare key do the side mirrors open up? i.e does the proximity sensor work?

No issues with sounds from the doors, windows, sunroof (after opening and driving with open for a couple of kilometres over b grade roads) or tailgate?

I've driven it like 150km today as I had to drop off my mother, but it was all sealed M5 - tunnel etc. No issues with those so far, but like I said, only 150km driven. Also keep in mind it was raining today so I didn't have the sunroof open.

The only reason I suspect the dealer with the tyres, is that their dealer demo MY18 has pilot sport 4s on it and i'm pretty sure that the MY18s only came with the contis, correct me if i'm wrong.

You’re right mate the MY18s came with Continentals, all the advertising for the MY19 has Michelin for the GT and Continentals for the other models. I know there was some talk someone else was told by their dealership that they had to pay and extra $500 to get them but that’s bullshit by the dealer trying to screw someone. If they advertise it they have to supply it, and it’s all over their website so if that means the dealership has to cop that cost then bad luck for them. Stand your ground because if you’re dropping close to $65K on a car you should get what they claim it comes with. Either way enjoy your ride it’s a great car even without the few extra features of the MY19

Well if your car is & MY19 & I’m 100% sure it is & based on the brochure you & @FitR6 have a good case to go back to your dealers & demand that the Michelin’s are fitted to your cars as you did not receive items on the car as advertised.

Took delivery of my MY19 last week. Build is 8 June 2018. It has the Continentals.

I had spoken to the dealer about wanting an MY19, partly for the Michelins and party just to be sure it was a recent build, not something that had been sitting around in the weather at a dealer for a few months. The dealer was open and up-front about it though. When he found this car he called to say it was an MY19, but it did not have the Michelin tyres and it was up to me whether I wanted to take it, or wait for a new build from Korea. Stock has been a little hard for me to find for the deep chroma blue with red interior. Decided to proceed with the car that was in the country.

Figured I'd just put on the Michelins on a year or two when these ones wear out. Not a huge deal for me.

The message from the dealer was that some of the early MY19 build cars still had the Continentals. That fits with ADSL's theory about the June builds being Continental and July+ being Michelin.

PS: I saw that other post about Michelins being a $500 option, sounded like dealer BS to me.

I'll be heading to speak with my dealer shortly, but before I go hopefully someone can verify, should the spare key work exactly like your main key ? Mine does absolutely nothing except flash a red light on the fob.

Yes your spare key fob should act exactly as your current main one, that’s why it’s a spare, if your main malfunctions or is lost this is your go to option.

Have you tried the manual key works too... They may have given you the wrong key for your car...
