• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

MY19 Tyres

Hi All,

Back home finally. Spoke to my salesman at the dealer and he’s was happy for me to have them switched and has agreed to swap them for me Monday. As for the key, he has told me that they delivered 2 other stingers white stingers that week and is chasing the other owners to see if they have a key that doesn’t work on their car as someone seems to have given out the wrong owners pouch. All in all was happy with the service.

Awesome. If you speak to the sales guy again... Get him to point out where your "puddle" lamps should be...

Took delivery of my MY19 last week. Build is 8 June 2018. It has the Continentals.

I had spoken to the dealer about wanting an MY19, partly for the Michelins and party just to be sure it was a recent build, not something that had been sitting around in the weather at a dealer for a few months. The dealer was open and up-front about it though. When he found this car he called to say it was an MY19, but it did not have the Michelin tyres and it was up to me whether I wanted to take it, or wait for a new build from Korea. Stock has been a little hard for me to find for the deep chroma blue with red interior. Decided to proceed with the car that was in the country.

Figured I'd just put on the Michelins on a year or two when these ones wear out. Not a huge deal for me.

The message from the dealer was that some of the early MY19 build cars still had the Continentals. That fits with ADSL's theory about the June builds being Continental and July+ being Michelin.

PS: I saw that other post about Michelins being a $500 option, sounded like dealer BS to me.
I felt the same way. Not a big deal. I'll put the Michelin tyres on when they need changing.

Here is an interesting tip I received, not sure if its 100 percent correct as I have not verified it. The TPMS system will not function if your wheels have been swapped and the new wheels sensor IDs have not been programmed in.
I was told to go check it, as that was the sure fire way to tell if my car came with Michelins and has been swapped. Now this is now not an issue about whether you like your tyres or not. Its also about your TPMS not functioning cause the wheels have been swapped. Will try to work out where the TPMS screen should be, chime in if you know where it is, gonna go flick through the owners manual.

Top left button on right side of steering wheel, looks like a page, press it while driving until tyres pressure screen shows.....simples.

I knew I had read somewhere it was an additional $500 for the Michelin’s, are you going to press them to change over or are you happy with the Continentals? I don’t mind them, just not sure how long they will last but with 12,700kms mine still look good.

I would not believe the dealer. Go and price a new stinger on Kia's website advertised with the Michelins. Still the same price. Whether what the dealer said about build and tyres is true or not. Kia Australia is telling you its GT specs on their page and the price. Nowhere do I read on Kia's site that the Michelins are optional or when I price and build my GT on their website, the price has not changed.

I'm not trying to say to go and swap your tyres. That is a personal choice you make yourself. However if the dealer is trying to charge you extra for tyres advertised as being on the car FOR the advertised price. You are buying what the manufacture advertises and not whatever the dealer decides to give you. I'd be questioning their morals.

Also why would they want more money for those tyres ? I suspect its because they are the better tyre. Every review I read said they were the superior tyre.

There can be no argument with what is advertised in the MY19 brochure.

Sounds like the same dodgy salesman at Maitland I spoke to when shopping around, walked in asked him how much for the GT he tells me $65,990, I say really? He says yeah best we can do at the moment, I say well your website says $64,490, and show him on my phone, and told him Cessnock had them for $60,750 and I’d just come from a test drive with them. He back pedaled and kissed my arse for the next hour trying to get a sale, I left with a card and bought it from Cardiff Kia instead. Cardiff and Cessnock had the colour I wanted, Maitland didn’t but the salesman put me off straight away. I don’t tolerate bullshit very well, especially when I’m dropping large amounts of money on something. I only went with Cardiff because they price matched Cessnock and threw in some extras and gave me a better deal on my trade.

Think I will keep them as is. I haven't found any problems with them.

Also noticed your dealer has said in the first sentence there are two model codes then goes on to say later that the model codes are identical. They lied to you right there already.
Don't all dealers? Lol. Good catch. That slipped right past me.

Absolutely, if your happy, that is all that matters. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and do not have a millisecond of regret. In fact, I like my car more now than I did before after spending some quality time in it. I am just the kind of person who like to receive what I was told and shown at the time of purchase. I was told when purchasing the vehicle, all of the extra things that came with the MY19 model and that is all I am asking for.

Mine was quite sincere, apologised and offered to swap them at my convenience. I'm shelling out what is for me, quite a lot of money, albeit worth every cent. I certainly don't want to be deceived or lied to as it makes you wonder what its like in their service and treatment of you should you have any issues further down the track.

I'll be at another dealership for servicing so hopefully they will be honest and sincere. I bought the car from a yard 2 hours away so won't ever be going back for anything.
