Mpg?

Just filled up for the second time after the dealer's delivery fill up. Both of my fill ups were using 89 Oct. gas. I am assuming the dealer used 87?
Also assuming the dealer may have not top it off the way I do.

First fill up:
Miles 330
Gal. 14.38
Computer MPG = 25.6
Manual Calc. = 22.9
Difference = -2.7

Second fill up:
Miles 360.6
Gal. 14.10
Computer MPG = 26.5
Manual Calc. = 25.6
Difference = -0.9

Not much city or highway driving. IMO the second fill up is a better example of real world due to not knowing what that first tank wall all about. Looks like the car's computer is pretty good.

The second calc hopefully is the more constant. My Honda’s computer was consistently approximately 1MPG to the good. After a bunch of fill ups I trusted the computer minus 1MPG. I haven’t tested mine yet. Over 800mi. now. Will start measuring after 1500 miles on the clock.

I reset the Accumulated info screen and took off. A week later I returned after logging 2,285 miles, much of it freeway going out, but only half of it freeway returning. The loop went roughly like this: Salt Lake City to Portland via I-15 and I-84. A bit of city driving over the next few days, then I-5 for the main part to Seattle and back to Portland. The return to SLC was via I-5 South, then Hwy 20, 78 and 95 down to Winnemucca where I picked up I-80 for the last leg back SLC. I registered 25.2 MPG over the c. 39 total hours of driving. Most of the time I was in Smart using the automatic (i.e. not using paddle shifters or the manual gate). The singular, notable exception was on stretches of Oregon Hwy 78 and 95, where I found myself virtually alone, and my inner "speed demon" took over: on the empty road, I practiced my first half dozen or so LC and auto hold starts, followed up by some high speed driving reaching speeds of 155 MPH. That probably knocked my trip avg MPG down a whole "point" or summat like that. Big deal.

how much miles do u guys get for a full fill up?
Out on the highway/freeway, over 350 "range" typically. Around town, closer to 320 "range".

Merlin, pretty good! Here in chicago not so good with the stop n go everywhere.

Will be filling up in the next day or two. Due to the trip back from West Palm Beach (Cars & Coffee) last weekend, I will be getting over 400 miles on the tank, 30+ mpg on the highway portion.

Whoa! How do you get that? The highest I've seen on mine for range was the TX trip (down slightly with a tailwind); "range" showed 369, iirc, anyway well over 350. And the highest MPG average I've reached was this latest road trip, at 28.9.

The 30.5 mpg was only the I 95 stretch from WPB to Flagler Beach at 70 mph with one stop using cruise. The rest of the week was ideal driving to supermarket. exercise, etc. My normal has very little town/city driving so I can expect 25 to 26 mpg per tank.

Paul32...that is crazy, but awesome how long (far) your gasoline lasts.

Paul, you ever look in owners manual and see what gas to use? Check it out

I don't race, speed and I always drive for mpg but I do like the little effort it takes to get to legal speed limits.

Oh sure! Keep piling it on Mr Paul. MPG envy, here.
As I said in a previous post, gas mileage is determined by how you drive and where you drive. At 70 mph on the highway, the tach is only registering about 1750 rpm's. At that rate, you can keep 30+ mpg, if it is steady with no slow downs and speed ups. Oh and yes, I don't use the left hand lane.

Ah, that explains it. I do speed, even if only briefly (I very much enjoy passing with vigor, and do it a lot, especially on road trips). And I have done 155, once. :D

I would be afraid my tires would pop or the law would take my car away from me.

If your Stinger can exceed 140 MPH, it is on tires rated at over 180 MPH. Perfectly safe. Cops, otoh, are a problem. My singular experience was devoid of cops and I knew it "in my cells": thus my foray into high performance play. Btw, the Stinger is everything it is touted to be at speed: quiet, smooth and stable. It filled me with confidence the entire time I was playing.
