3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Intercooler Kit R&D Thread

Don't Stop Believin'? If it takes too long the song might switch to Separate Ways... ;)

I’ve got a new in bow AP intercooler if anyone is interested. I can do $450 shipped.

Good deal. Why are you selling it? Get something else instead or selling the Stinger?

UP seems to be similar to Wagner (edit: in price) - I'd probably go with Wagner, if I was spending that much.. Seems MUCH bigger.

The Wagner is definitely bigger, but I have two concerns with it. The first is that most of the extra size his hidden behind the front crash bar so it doesn't get any cooling airflow. The second is that, since it's so big, I'm worried that it would reduce your air velocity significantly, thus increasing spool time on the turbo and making the turbo lag worse. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'd personally feel "safer" with the UP.

I was originally set on wagner but its not compatible with the big mouth ducts. I would have to purchase wagner specific ducts.

If mishimoto doesnt say anything soon i may go with the ultimate performance IC. Idk...

I really like the Wagner but that’s why I passed on it I love the big mouth ducts..I would have to say that’s one design flaw I don’t care for the ram air is just atrocious the air has to comes in through the front and then has to curve up than BF8736B2-B26F-4895-B6C0-576DEA849277.webp81889CF0-A866-4B4D-87E0-EDCDC7EA286E.webpdown and straight into the cold air intakes makes no sense

It’s a long story, but I wound up with two. The other is installed on my stinger.

Is it just an IC or does it have piping? I don't see it listed on their site anymore for more information.

@Mishimoto I ignored this thread for months thinking once I came back this thing would be released, soooooo whats up?

Yeah i agree. The OG duct design is weird

BMS tested these ducts and contrary to the layman's assumption of their 'lack of function', they in fact work.

I'd imagine since the vehicle's nose is a high pressure zone, it will subsequently force air through those snorkels. In contrast, air moving around the vehicle is accelerating, low pressure, and any vents in these areas would need vents and ducts with a more laminar flow design.

Besides, it's a bit pretentious to assume we know more than a team of automotive engineers who are experts in their field. Since it's on the front end of the vehicle, there was likely crash test contingencies included in it's design. Overall, yeah, it's weird, but stating it's non-functional is just cherry picking logic. The entire vehicle is the sum of it's parts and those sealed factory airboxes get cool air. If anything, heatsoak is more of a real world issue vs the OE snorkels. lol. The money used to purchase aftermarket snorkels would be better spent on an intercooler upgrade, IMO.

Hey Guys,

I apologize for the absence here, but we've been doing a lot in the background to prep for the presale launch that's will be launching VERY soon. I'll have some more info coming your guys' way shortly, but in the meantime, here's the full list of components that you'll be receiving with our kit:

Not cherry picking common sense would dictate a straight line should be the quickest way of travel....air coming in directly into the air boxes in theory should help...and I did upgrade to a AP intercooler and couldn’t be happier ...
