When do you get the tinny sound? I have the same setup as you (SSR's and round Akrapovic tips) and I get a tinny vibration on cold start for about a half-second.

If you remove the tips and the sound goes away, let us know. If that works i think the Oval tips would be the solution as they don't require trimming and leave some room for movement in the diffuser.
Yea i have a feeling it's the tips vibrating. Might have to shift the exhaust a little further back to allow the tips to clamp on more or trim more.

So, I had a local shop install my MBRP exhaust last evening. Definitely louder and I do have drone in the cabin at cruising speed. Currently running the existing exhaust tips (unattached to exhaust), so I'm guessing once my tips come in, that'll solve that problem. They loaded my stock exhaust in my hatch and I noticed something once I got it home. Looks like the crushed gaskets are still on the stock H-Pipe. So appears I'll have to go back and have them reinstall them, unless they really aren't needed?? Can I get some direction on this from you guys? I initially told them to remove my stock tips so I can install my new tips once they come in. The owner of the shop just said to bring the tips in and he'll install them no charge. I guess I can just have them address the gaskets when I take it back for the tips.[/QUOTE]

How much did the shop charge. I'll likely get a shop to install when I pull the trigger. That is unless my Stinger Winger over rules and we do it.

Same here and I would also like to get an idea of install costs please. :)

Shop only charged $125 for removal of the old and installing the new. Like I said, he told me I can take it back once my tips come in and he'll swap those out at no charge. Honestly, I'd feel confident doing it myself but I don't have the room or proper ramps/stands to do so.

Thank you. Buck and a quarter isn't bad.

Just did a 1900 mile round trip to Chicago. Was awesome having the exhaust! There is a steady hum going uphill maintaining ~2K RPM, but it did not strike me as an annoying drone.

Car was fantastic with the JB4, DIY intakes, and exhaust.

With 75 miles to go, however, I hit a raccoon at about 70mph! Just dropped it off for repair. New nose and intercooler.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.

Do you have aftermarket tips?

So even with tips there is a little bit of drone?
Meh. It's definitely not silent under specific conditions, but those conditions are temporary and infrequent. Even then, it's not the reverberation that would make me feel ill. Overall, I love it.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad the exhaust isn’t too bad. I might have to do the exhaust wrap when I finally get mine

What size inlet / outlet are you guys running for the akrapovic tips on stock system or Mbrp?

You have to remember that any aftermarket exhaust will have a deeper sound than oem therefore the exhaust note is slightly higher.
