My Stinger's computer keeps dying randomly and I have to open and close the driver's door to get the computer to turn on again.

Has anybody else experienced this as well?

no issues here.

Call KIA USA and send them your video.

[Edit] P.S. -- If you could put your city and state location in your avatar, maybe someone local has experience with your dealer or recommend a better one.

Hmm, did your car have the wiring harness recall performed? What model year.

Definitely something electrical going on. I would ask to speak with the service manager at the dealer, show him the video and ask him to escalate it. I understand it can be hard to fix something when you can't replicate it however, when you have video proof, that is hard to deny. Kind of remind me when my 2000 A4 died after, I got it home from leasing it. I parked it in the garage and 15 minutes later when I got in to go to the supermarket, the car was dead. Turned out to be a bad computer, which they replaced and all was fine again. Loved that car, bought out the lease, but repair cost made me trade it.

Car so far is been solid, just show this video to the dealer they probably know better than random people here in the forum.

Make appt with local service manager and then call customer support and describe issue and tell them you have appt and they will follow up with dealer. Had a paint issue and this worked like a charm.

I definitely wouldn't drive it.. outside of the ride to the dealer to drop it off. My best guess would be cpu related but it amazes me that they had the car and wouldn't have tested that first, then looked for any wiring inconsistency along the harness.
Either way I'd make a call to our premium line to voice your concerns in case that dealer plays dumb again. They are setting Kia up for a huge liability if they don't attempt to resolve.

This is a first. You are unique, not in a pleasant way, I'm sure you agree. Did you ever try the reset button? Just something I'd do along with everything else I could think of.

I'm sure you'll sort this out. But I agree, get it escalated with Kia.

This is a first. Sounds battery related or even security system related. Perhaps a faulty module or wrong programming.

Yep, I did that as soon as I got the notice in my mail box. The problem in the video was present from before the recall and I hoped taking the car for the wiring harness would fix it but I was wrong.

Thanks everybody. I will get in touch with KIA corporate tomorrow and the dealership as well and see what options I have.

Somebody asked about my location - I live in Goodyear, Arizona. The dealership I got the car from is Mark Kia located in South Scottsdale.

Put that in your profile info. We like to see where each other comes from.

Oooo. Mark Kia. Their service is good. I'll stop at that.

Decided to follow up on this case as we are all Kia's customers so that is related to you too.

After publishing this video I contacted KIA HQ and they asked me to drop the car with the dealer again. KIA sent a "Field Tech" to inspect the car. However he was unable to replicate the issue. Thus they asked me to take the car back. They said they can't fix something they cannot replicate, I paid for the car so it's mine and I should take it back as is.

The only difference since I took the car back is that it has 1000+ miles on it and is now shaking violently when I press on the brakes. They left me with a base corolla during that time of 2 weeks and did not warrant my request to provide me with a vehicle of the same caliber as the one they were inspecting.

I filed with the federal trade commission and will file with the BBB as well. Looking for the right law firm to file law suit next.

Reasonable response. "Wait and see". What else can KIA do? Slap your car around hoping it will manifest something that they can work on?

You are righteously pissed off. No question about that. However, if KIA can't replicate this, does it only happen when YOU get around it? Or has it stopped doing what you described?

If it still does this at home, then demand to have another session with the KIA rep: with you there watching what they do; with you demonstrating the issue. Get that session on video.

(Imho, on the rental ride thing: that is being petty: yes, we'd all like to drive a Stinger while ours is in the shop.)

I do agree with you to an extend. I will just say this - no the car hasn't stopped having this issue to my knowledge. The problem is intermittent so I cannot summon it at my will. I just got it back last evening so I haven't driven it much. I will try to get my money back and move away from KIA.

Humm, looking at video in 1st post, dinging dash cam, how is that wired into the system?
Through the usb port that is available.

Have you checked if the battery cables are properly attached and tightened?
I had a similar problem with my 2014 Kia Forte-- The car wouldn't start unless I opened and closed the driver's door. As it turns out, it was a loose positive battery cable! I tightened it up, and no more problems! I'm not saying this is the same issue, just a possibility.
