LSD.....

I'm noticing final ratio gearing differences between models. I wonder if the lsd posting on eBay is for a specific final ratio...? I wish I were more learned about rear end gearing. Anyone know if differing final ratios affects applicability?

All UK cars don't have an AWD option, but all do have LSD , event the basic 2.0L models.

I know the American 2.0s have a 3.73 gear, and the GT has 3.54 so interesting to note. Thanks for the info!

I'm confused , I was under the impression our AWD here had LSD ?? The issue of Torque Vectoring is a front to rear issue so wouldnt that still allow side to side LSD ? EDIT , I'm wrong .

OK you all have me wondering now . I'm going to call my dealer and find out when the factory rep is going to be there, I have a question or two , on how this all works on the AWD, LSD.

I think I'm wrong , I re read some Canadian reviews and it clearly states the LSD is on RWD and that the TV system works independently on all 4 corners

It is what they call dynamic torque vectoring.
Front to rear is done by sending more or less torque, left to right is done by using the brakes.

In this frozen/slop weather, when I've left my street from a stop sign, turning at a 90 degree angle, I'd swear the torque vectoring kicks in and the car slows. I've noticed this a time or two in other situations like big potholes in the slippery conditions. I would love to learn a WHOLE lot more about the torque vectoring and how it manages wheelspin, etc. For now, I'm going to look for the widest, stickiest tires I can buy for summer driving, hoping to minimize any wheelspin.

OK call my salesman it's Sunday ask Him when the factory rep would be In ,or do they just show up whenever they want . He asked why and I told him I just wanted to learn more about the LSD and the all wheel drive and how it worked, he told me the key I had some videos and he would look into it, he would also look into who I might be able to contact possibly in tech-support at corporate anyway he's gonna look into it and get back to me probably this next week now I'm on a quest . I do hope that the AWD has the breaking from left to right With the torque vectoring , that would kind of make up for the LSD . Might slow you down a hair in the turns but it's all about stick to me . I might be overthinking this but with the breaking it would be kind of like having LSD on both axles! I have to take advantage of the 55° outside and wash my car have a good day

Is 55 C or F ?

55°C would be crazy hot
just trying to have some fun on a boring day at the Forums ! thatsa about the temp our Auusie mates take their sweaters off ( or do they call them jumpers ? ):laugh:

55 F , sweatshirts .

Real torque vectoring is done via the differential. Preferably a LSD and, if you like the Nissan GT-R or Subaru WRX style, an active (electronically-controlled) LSD.

Fake torque vectoring, and counter-motion at that, is done via the brakes. So, in addition to slowing you down when you don't want to be slowed down, it also contributes to wearing out the brakes prematurely and additional brake dust.

As I already asked, since I am a newbie here, how do we get official confirmation (or denial) of this August update?

I was serious when I said the only way you'll know for sure is when the car hits the lot. Even if they confirm it for one market won't mean it is in all markets. Everyone was sure the us was going to get alcantra headliners and 360 cams and we didn't. Kia won't confirm anything until release.

Hmmm, then I guess I'll have to delay my order in perpetuity...

Haha, yeah I'm waiting for the 19 models for sure. If they don't bring some stuff that I want by then I'll move in to another car..

Repeat from link above:

"Biermann’s team is working on an electronically controlled rear differential to improve the agility. That’ll be a bonus, not a Band-Aid. More important are Biermann’s ideas of what doesn’t belong on a sport sedan. “No run-flat tires and no flat-bottom steering wheels. Not on my watch.”

Hmmm, we have a flat-bottomed steering wheel, don't we?

"Updates to the twin-turbo 3.3 include an air-cooled intercooler, high pressure direct injection, high energy ignition, redesigned combustion chambers, reduced internal friction, electronically-controlled thermostat, sodium-filled exhaust valves (a V-6 first, according to Hyundai), increased exhaust gas recirculation, and new cylinder heads integrated with their exhaust manifolds. Output remains the same—365 horsepower, 376 lb-ft of torque—but efficiency improves."

Looks like there may be an additional reason to hold out for the 2019's....

Does anyone know the name of the manufacturer who builds the LSD for the Stingers ? I heard somewhere it was a British manufacturer. Just curious, I priced out a new LSD and there was 1 in the country to my understanding and at $2400 too.
