LSD.....

Read the article, I wonder when/if that will show up in the US.

A true LSD for AWD? Oh, that pisses me off...

Here is a summary (translated from Russian) - all sounds logical, good probability of accuracy.

CERAM training ground near Paris I grabbed on the Kia Stinger - with updates to be introduced in August.
  1. All-wheel drive versions with a V6 engine (3.3 liters, biturbo, 370 hp) will add LSD
  2. The "manual" gear selection algorithm has also been modified. Earlier, even in the sport mode, after reaching the maximum speed, the next gear was selected, now the engine will be "honestly" hanging
  3. The exhaust system has been refined together with the English company Milltek - and now after 3200 rpm (when the engine is running under load) the valve opens slightly, making the exhaust "almost straight-through".
No word of including LSD in GT or GT1.
The tranny will hold gears at high revs rather than forced upshifting.
Dual mode exhaust. Yummy

Milltek exhaust - here's their Alfa dual mode system, Stinger will be similar.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
When I saw the "Mechanical-Limited Slip Differential" on the manufacturer test label, I thought, I wonder if that means an electronic LSD is coming...
I found the answer - Yes!

"Biermann’s team is working on an electronically controlled rear differential to improve the agility."

2018 Kia Stinger First Drive - Review of Kia Stinger GT

Dammit...

The peril of early adopters.

Supposedly the LSD is one of the few parts that is not built in a house, the people that build the LSD is the same company that makes it for the Nissan GT – R , and as soon as I can ramp up production it should be in all models of stingers. I can't remember which YouTube video it was in I've watched so many, but they did make an effort and found out who made the LSD for the stinger , i'll try to find it then I'll edit this post .

That YouTube video is .

You think there will be a chance we can get it as an aftermarket part to fit it in models that did not come with one?

Along the line of Quaife and their BMW's LSDs.

Not to get political here, but I don’t exactly trust news coming from Russia...

Hey, who doesn't trust Russian news here? Where are my twitter bots? :D

I also read a while ago that KIA was working on an electronic LSD for the Stinger. They wanted to use it now but it wasn't ready so they went with a mechanical one instead. I would love to see a rear eLSD put on the AWD system as well. A sportier exhaust system in addition to the new shift logic would be most welcome too.

I too was hoping LSD (whichever variety) would be present on the AWD. I'm coming from an 03 WRX that has two LSDs (one center for 50/50 and one rear) - car does great in the snow. When I get it sideways all I have to do is let go of the wheel and it straightens itself out - there is no electronics applied to my powertrain (no stability control or traction control). I realize many cars use this in place of LSDs today - would be nice if someone did a side-by-side comparison to see whether or how different an AWD system that has multiple LSDs vs the alternatives (braking individual wheels, etc

This is huge and enough to make me delay my order...

"Available in August" meaning cars built from August onward (which would be the 2019's), or the last end of the 2018's?

How do we confirm with various official Kia branches whether this is true and which markets will get what (because we know they won't do it fairly or sensibly and provide everyone with the same goodies)?

Based on how Kia rolled the 2018 out, there will be no way to know what is in the 19 until it is sitting on the lot.

I hate it - didn‘t even get my Stinger and it feels like it is already getting old with next gen - with really nice features - coming up soon. Just frustrating!

I'm willing to let Kia and the market figure out a good LSD solutions for us AWD vehicles. Yeah, a problem with early adoption.
