I've mentioned this in a few threads here but haven't really received a response. According to the Kia website, an LSD is ONLY available on the limited release sunset yellow GT, isn't available at all on the GT1, and is standard on the GT2. The Australian RWD GT models all have LSD standard. The Mexican RWD GT model has LSD as standard. This can't be right, can it?

The 38-43k range is what makes this car so interesting to me, but if you can't even get an LSD in it? Well, that's an absolute deal breaker and I'm at a loss as to why they would completely remove this option for 2/3rds of the GT models here when it's standard in all other GT models in other countries, as it should be. I would even be ok if it was a modest upgrade.

I would assume it is correct. At this point, if you told me Kia is selling the cars with only 3 tires and manual crank windows in the US market, I would believe it.

Yeah, I wouldn't know what to believe. This has to be someone here in Kia USA making these decisions. This seems like it is being sabotaged by management.

Honestly is REALLY weird.
LSD really should be standard across the board.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Why is not available on GT1? How does that even make any sense? Forcing customers to go up to GT2 maybe?

It really should be available on all trims. Every RWD car should have it as an option, IMO. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I seem to recall all the remaining big RWD platforms of the 90s offering LSD. My '95 Caprice certainly had it.

I think with improved stability control, some of them stopped using the LSD and relied on those systems. My 2009 G8 didn't come with it. I bought one used on a forum from someone with a higher trim model that was upgrading theirs to an aftermarket differential. I haven't checked in 2-3 years...but the Dodge charger used to have an open differential on the v6, and I think some v8 models.

i also find it very very strange that the gt and gt2 would have lsd and not the gt1. it doesn't make alot of sense. maybe they do want people to upgrade to gt2 from gt1 but why wouldn't they want that with the gt also? i don't get it. you had a 1995 caprice ss?

apparently the GT only gets an LSD in the limited release sunset yellow. Absolute deal breaker.

Maybe they are having a production problem that limits the number of LSD units available.

Welcome aboard, @gmoore! Thank you for signing up. I guess it's possible. It will be a shame for early adopters if they start adding it to GT1s once they have enough on hand...

I had a '95 Caprice 9C1 (police package) - there was no Caprice SS for those mid-90s B-bodies. You're thinking of the standalone Impala SS. Ran the same years, 1994-96 and used the same body with the 9C1 package as a base but with some more colors to choose from, unique Impala interior bits, sportier sounding exhaust, bigger/wider wheels and some other stuff.

But yeah, thinking about what was posted above, I guess with all the electronic stability control cars come standard with now has impacted the inclusion of LSD options on many cars. That, combined with so much of everything coming in AWD now.

very cool. so this is something you might offer as an aftermarket option? if so can you give a ballpark estimate on what it might cost us?

Yes this will be an option available on our site in the future. If I had to ball park it i would say around $800 plus shipping? I will be double check what all comes with the LSD as well.

You guys can take a look at our website at www.damnfastdd.com and our Facebook at facebook.com/TorkTuned

Correct. That is why LSD is not available in AWD
But the link and the description if you click the link clearly says AWD and all models.

In one Russian community I just heard that KIA going to present LSD for AWD in August. Anybody heard something about that? Also it reports enhancements in exhaust system with better "sound" from pipes, changes in "manual mode" transmission changes.
