Anyone want to critique my log feel free. 93 + 4 gal E85 run 30-120mph on a hot summer night in Indiana. I've observed that cyl 2,4,6 always has a little more retard than cyl 1,3,5. Any hypothesis for that? Maybe fuel pump placement?
Curious if this was the very first full throttle run or a subsequent run? Once the ECU adjusts a bit, you in theory should see little ignition retard. It's not high but maybe a bit more then you would want.. and when I say "maybe" - I say that because I'm not really sure anyone knows for sure other than Kia. Often people say 3 degrees is the cut off, though I'm not sure if that's just a commonly repeated random number that people throw around and repeat or if there is actual evidence of it being too much for the 3.3T specifically. On the other side, Terry Burger once said that if you have no ignition retard, then you are leaving power on the table.
Either way, I don't believe these are harmful numbers and the ECU would adjust long term.
If others have specific insight into our ECUs, I would like to hear more. Lozic has mentioned before that our ECUs are advanced and similar to that of a 2018+ Porsche ECU. So, unless the tuning is super aggressive, it will adjust to be safe. The drawback being that when the ECU is retarding ignition, power is being reduced.
