Lozic ECU + TCU + AWD Tune

Anyone want to critique my log feel free. 93 + 4 gal E85 run 30-120mph on a hot summer night in Indiana. I've observed that cyl 2,4,6 always has a little more retard than cyl 1,3,5. Any hypothesis for that? Maybe fuel pump placement?

Curious if this was the very first full throttle run or a subsequent run? Once the ECU adjusts a bit, you in theory should see little ignition retard. It's not high but maybe a bit more then you would want.. and when I say "maybe" - I say that because I'm not really sure anyone knows for sure other than Kia. Often people say 3 degrees is the cut off, though I'm not sure if that's just a commonly repeated random number that people throw around and repeat or if there is actual evidence of it being too much for the 3.3T specifically. On the other side, Terry Burger once said that if you have no ignition retard, then you are leaving power on the table.

Either way, I don't believe these are harmful numbers and the ECU would adjust long term.

If others have specific insight into our ECUs, I would like to hear more. Lozic has mentioned before that our ECUs are advanced and similar to that of a 2018+ Porsche ECU. So, unless the tuning is super aggressive, it will adjust to be safe. The drawback being that when the ECU is retarding ignition, power is being reduced.

It was the first full throttle of the day. I'm not worried about a little knock retard. I'll hit -5 to -6 on some cylinders when using only 93. As far as I'm concerned the ECU is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Yesterday I disconnected the battery for 30 min to see what kind of difference it made. Similar temps, DA and the same tank of gas. Ignition timing advance maxed out at 20° and overall held higher through the run. Also knock retard reduced to 0 in some cylinders and the worst was -1.5 compared to -4.5 before resetting the ECU. This confirms to me exactly what others have said. Ignition timing can be improved simply by resetting the battery.

I was going to recommend resetting computer but you did. I reset mine when ever I only run 93 because it learns timing retards that it doesn't unlearn even with healthy dose of e85.

Soon we'll have wmi so this will be a thing in the past for us soon.

I got 0.1s off when doing same 60ft for 1/8 simply from resetting the ECU after using better gasoline.

Well, hello. Back after 60+ pages to blow up this thread.

First, wow there have been a lot of updates (yes I read through it all). May have to get a TCU retune with my "2021 era" ECU... Seems he's seeped more power out and added a BUNCH of features I want, like
  • octane-dependency (ECU)
  • better boost ready (ECU)
  • more boost by mode options (ECU)
  • more exhaust bubbles/pop configuration (ECU)
  • Sport+ shifting (TCU)
  • smooth 2-1shift (TCU)
Lozic is definitely the fun option for ECU tuning.

Really not sure about boost ready, though. It seems based on @CraigS's feedback, one can feel the transition as an increase in throttle sensitivity (therefore torque and acceleration), but this is my family/daily car so I don't want to hit that inadvertently. This one is especially difficult for me to make a decision as I have the first version of boost by mode (0.3 Eco, 0.7 Comfort, full Sport) which raises shift points so I pretty consistently hit 2400-2600 rpm in daily driving. I'm not sure if I go with 0.9 Eco, 1.2 Comfort I will ever hit 2200 in brisk (not WOT) acceleration due to the additional torque.

Even if I turn on boost ready above 3k rpm, will it matter? The engine and turbo are already spinning rapidly so I don't see how the electronics could juice up the turbo even more. <2.5k rpm I can see. Above, not so much. Law of diminishing returns, almost.

Also, for those with the updated boost by mode, does the throttle sensitivity still change between modes? With my car, I can switch from comfort to sport at the same throttle input and the car will surge ahead. Like it suddenly doubles the throttle body % at the same pedal position. I would really like to get rid of that.
I have had boost ready in 3 different styles now. And a 4th if you consider having it off as well. I can say from personal experience that choosing what power by mode you want will def make a difference on boost ready as well. My favorite by far (this is my daily family car) is boost ready at 2,200. But I have power by mode E. Which is Eco 0.9. Comfort and Sport Set. If you did what you were thinking 0.7,0.9,Sport Set. Then I think boost ready at 2,200 would be great as well. I rarely hit over 2,200 on daily driving with my set up. Hope this helps.

I second this. Pearly and I have the same basic ECU config, though mine is probably tuned to run on the crappiest 93 possible, so his probably makes a bit more power. but WMI is comingggg.........

Hi guys. I got some questions about primary downpipes. I’m currently having 1.5 bar tune with stock primaries on and straight pipes after that. I saw NGT just released 400 cell HFC and they claimed it didn’t even trigger codes or limp mode on a stock stinger for 8k miles. Do you guys think I can get away with revision if I go for this route?

Also I’m wondering if primaries are causing problems, what will the problems would be like? And are they fixable with JB4?

How you reset the ecu? Battery disconnect? I ran into a weird issue with my jb4 a few days ago and I’m thinking maybe I should do a reset since I recently installed the piggy back.

Yup but if you have UVO subscribed, it might kick you offline and you might need to call them to reboot the modem their side. It happened to me once.

Imma try it then. Nope I don’t have UVO so all is good. Thanks!

I’m in SoCal and didn’t want to hassle with mixing so I went with a 1.3bar 91 tune and love it and being bone stock is perfectly fine. Like you mentioned, just need to get those spark plugs switched to HKS
Let me know if you need help throwing the plugs in. I am in OC and can knock it out in 20 mins for ya.

Boost ready on or off? Lozic told me he increased timing on the 1.3bar 91 tune. I have the same as you and it feels fast.

Ahh I already got them installed but that would have been awesome. I probably paid way too much to throw them in too haha are you in the SoCal area?

I have boost ready off. So far, everything has felt great and I’m super impressed with the 1.3bar tune. It’s exactly what I was looking for

I installed WMI over the weekend and am probably going to get my comfort mode setup to 1.3bar (93) for more of a relaxed fast (and for when/if I need to drive without meth) Do you have any videos or draggy links to your 0-60 times?

BMS kit cuz I already had the JB4. Worst part was getting the power wire and WMI line through the gromet in the firewall. the rest of it just takes time, patience, and double checking the instructions.

Yep. I am in Lake Forest. Hit me up if you ever need anything. IG is @cashby31
