Lease offer

Thanks. I am going to do exactly what you advise.
Will call several dealers in the area and see if they will honor the incentives.

Absolutely. Best of luck. If it helps at all, this is where I was getting my numbers from:

(Copy the whole thing. I can't post links)

leasehackr.com/calculator?make=Kia&msrp=42290.0&sales_price=39000&months=36&mf=.00229&dp=0&doc_fee=80&acq_fee=550&taxed_inc=5500&untaxed_inc=0&rebate=0&resP=51&reg_fee=450&sales_tax=6&memo=&zero_driveoff=true&salesPriceTax_radio=true&miles=12000&msd=0

You can play around with the purchase price / taxed incentives to get an idea of what you would pay if things changed. This is definitely not 100% accurate but it's probably under ~$10 a month off. Good luck!

thanks!
Is the $900 destination fee calculated into the MSRP.
If so, the GT with Drives wise would be $43,450 correct?

I believe the $900 destination fee (didn't realize it was that high) is calculated in the MSRP. Do you have the window sticker of the car you were looking at? You can probably find it on Kia's website to get the exact MSRP.

That's not bad! I think that's the target you should aim for because I'm in NJ and we don't have to pay tax on the entire price, so my friend getting it for $550 last month is really closer to $600 for you. I think anywhere between $520-530 would be a good deal!

I just realized there was a second page with the complete breakdown. But the numbers don't add up.
Would someone check these numbers for me?

The $1300 they are keeping from the rebates is probably how they are getting the price of the car to look so good. It would be rare for a dealer to go to 10.5% off without a huge fight. Tack the extra $1300 missing onto that car price and they are at $39000 and 7.5% off, which is pretty normal for a moderately good deal. Yes, they are probably hiding some money in the $1000 worth of tags/fees (although no doc fee is shown I’d bet that $550 is probably it), but if they would just fix the rebate it would be a pretty good deal unless there’s some other problem I don’t see.

The ultimate deal is to then immediately buy it out (or refinance it out at a much lower rate) and pocket the difference. At 2.9% financing on a 72mo note you would save $2,300 in interest over three years (yes, half the rent charge!) and wouldn’t have to worry about the mileage. However I would check and make sure you don’t have to pay state taxes twice if you buy it out (luckily most states have exceptions on taxes for lease buyouts).

Also, with it financed or bought outright you can keep driving it for more than the 3 years and pocket thousands of dollars a year vs being goaded into leasing another new car as soon as yours ends. It’s always nice to already be thousands ahead and have that flexibility to keep saving money if you want.
