Knocking from the back

I'm finding it hard to pinpoint where it's coming from, most times it seems like it's under/around the driver seat or transmission RHD, sometimes from the rear right hand side around the wheel but it's not audible from outside. It always makes one singular pop sound from the right hand side when coming to a complete stop & sounds like plastic/rubber knocking together. There's also no loose panels under the car.

So at the last service 40k the diff oil got replaced (2 weeks ago) apparently one other GT had the same issue with the banging at this fixed it. I drove the car out and the banging was worse and the car felt like it had lost the grunt, thought maybe there was a engine mapping update done. 3-4 days later still sluggish and took the car back to the dealer apparently the 2 of the 4 diff mount bolts and sheared off and now waiting for a diff expert to come in and assess it before sending the report to Kia to provide a fix. Anyone else of of this before?

I had my diff replaced under warranty due to noise and then had a diff mount bolt shear off about 500km later which made the rear end knock. I think they over torqued the fastener. My experience with Kia service so far is that they have no clue and should be working on lawnmowers lol.

Why ruin a perfectly good lawnmower?

I purchased a new GT1 Stinger in early October, 2019. From the second I drove off the lot, I heard an occasional rattle/whomp sound from the rear right when going over any significant bumps. I was able to fix it simply by unscrewing/extending the piston in the hatch as far as possible on the right side and tightening/shortening the one on the left side all the way in. It has only been a week, but so far it has completely resolved the issue.

I have the same problem, it's not the hatch rattle problem.
The sound is something knocking under the chassis at low speed and soft bumby road.
Same sound like a defect shock suspension.
It's very annoying, all of my friends car have very quiet suspension compare to my Stinger GT.
Just bought a 2019 and i have the same problèm
Any news or solution about this problem

Welcome, Nick Beast : no, because the thump from the back isn't one thing happening, as you can tell by the comments already made and suggestions already offered. It is likely something simple and stupid, like a loose spare tire or under panel. Don't borrow bigger trouble, and let us know what you find out.

could be the hatch latch , try openning up the bumpers a bit ( screw them out )

Add me to the list of people with this issue. It's not loud, easy to block out with the radio up but I feel like my 50K GT2 shouldn't make so much suspension noise. I did just put on some brand new winter tires and that's about the time it started. Has anyone tried the BMS diff mount that completely ties the diff to the sub frame in the rear?

Still no progress, i have the exact same problem. No need bumpy road to hear that soft knocking sound. It is more evident at low speed.
The mech told me he cannot really hear it, he feel that something is slightly bizzare but until he cannot be sure what cause this he don't want to change parts blindly. He told me wait until this problem is more evident.
Get those diff mounts checked... The sound is intermittent.
Since mine gone repaired haven't had a issue except that now the bi-modal exhaust is always open not sure why this happened ill get it looked at next service.

Having the same issue with my 2020. It's been to the dealer twice so far. No one seems to hear anything but I hear it all the time. Seems to be coming from passenger side rear. I guess I need to stock my head under the car and see if the differential bolts are loose or are gone. If the bolts are gone what would be the solution? Which bolts should I be looking at? Are there any options like the bms differential brace for the awd models? I appreciate any helps guys and gals. Sound is very annoying. Thanks.

Probably an obvious item, but when I did my spring install, I failed to completely tighten all the bolts on the drivers side rear, that resulted in a knock of some sort every time I went over a bump, mostly at slow to medium speeds. My local mechanic was able to replicate the noise literally by pushing up and down on the rear corner. Once we isolated which side, we threw it up on a lift and he hit each of the bolts with his impact wrench and one bolt turned maybe one full turn, and that was all it took. Just a thought.

Yeah I'm gonna take a look up under the car hopefully this weekend if my buddy will let me use his lift. I haven't changed my springs yet but who knows. Maybe something is just loose. I looked up under there earlier this morning and didn't see any broke off bolts on the differential but maybe the mounts just need tightened up. So many possibilities. Just hard to believe at 14k miles that there could be this kind of issue already. Crazy for a 50k dollar car. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll take a look.

I still have this problem, similar to someone knocking the floor with a rubber hammer. Dealer check many times and cannot find anything. He keep my car 3 days and decided to change the shock. The noise is still there but it is less noisier.

Sorry to hear about your problem, as of mine for the past few years its been solid, yet to hear any noise or having any issues with the car other than is thirsty as f*ck but fun as f*ck as well.

I also had my diff replaced under warranty and I have just noticed the left rear diff mount bolt has sheared off.

I just noticed the left rear diff bolt has also sheared off. Mine has done about 15k since the replacement but I don’t know how long it’s been missing.

My noise is the rear ended up being a bad passenger side shock. They wouldn't replace it because they said I had sway bars installed. So whatever. I ended finding a replacement on the forums and replaced it myself. No more noise. Pretty crap quality part considering my car is a 2020 gt2 with 20k miles on it. But nothing much I can do about it.

Kia offers aftermarket sway bars. So, WTH? The dealership installed my Eibach sways. If they subsequently told me that a failed shock is no longer under warranty because of the sway bar I'd be mightily pissed off.

Yeah I wasn't very happy about it. They were saying that it was a rare problem and that they would have to take pictures of the suspension to send into Kia before they would cover the shock. It's all bs. They don't stand behind their product. I still love it but don't think I'd buy another Kia product again. Really is too bad.
