Well, come on, not "exactly" the same. Or the look on the guy's face would be understandable.

you better start practising your finger gun in the mirror Merlin ...................perfect way to celebrate a win or dissuade a "non race " due to a known outcome ( Nissan Sentra's etc :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:)

No. That "finger gun girl" is the tops. I'd never want to be compared to her.

Add a late model M4 to my kill tally.

It was a great head to head matchup from about 10mph. We both took off from a light at about half throttle and then floored it when we realized neither of us was going to let the other one get ahead. I actually chirped the tires at my 1-2 shift but stayed directly next to him through 2nd gear. Then I don’t know if he or I was more surprised when I started walking away from him in 3rd gear. I took about a 1/2-3/4 car length lead before we both shut down coming up to the next light.

The look on his face was priceless and made me smile the rest of the way to work.:D

So I ran into a modded CTS-V coupe last night, that the owner said dynos at 600+ horsepower. I can't say it was a kill, since he pulled about a car ahead from a dig [later found out he was on slicks, while I spun all the way through first], but from a roll he simply could not keep up. We went at it several times, each time I pulled away. I'm guessing their engine is tuned for more power down low?

Either way it was a good race. Funny thing is, I came across him while he was racing another car (modded Charger). They slowed and were pacing each other but he abandoned the Charger when I sped past them, and came after me...lol.

Some guys blow smoke about their power numbers, I really only take what someone says with a grain of salt on a modded car. I don't say they're BS or anything combative to their face, but people say all kinds of numbers. I had a guy tell me his (oldass, maybe late 90s) Civic was making 300HP. I've gotten really good at "hearing" power levels, and he was lucky if he was making 200HP on that flyby, lol

Yeah I've been thinking that same thing, wondering how a supposed 600 hp car couldn't keep up with ~440 from a roll. And for him to supposedly be modded, it sure was quiet; when I look back at the shaky video I took, mine was louder than his.

Welp, I can add a modded G35 to the list. Not sure what the mods were exactly, but it pulled like it was running around 350HP. Jogged away as the speeds kept climbing, though, no real challenge :p

Three days ago, as we were on our way to go hiking, I pulled up behind a black Audi S5. He must have noticed right away what was filling his review mirror. Because, as the light turned green he accelerated at a brisk pace. I let him get several car lengths ahead and then kept pace briefly: until I saw that he wasn't about to let me close on him. So, keeping true to my self-imposed motto (I do not race - with malice aforethought), I watched him lengthen his "lead" till the next stop light, where I pulled up alongside in the left turn lane. My wife said, "He's looking at your car." :D (His wheels were filthy, especially in front. :P)

BMW 640i. From a red traffic light, I was a couple car lengths ahead at 60mph and 4-5 lengths by the time I let off at just over 100mph. I didn’t expect anything else really but it’s always fun.:D

Stage 2 Cobb tuned WRX. Guy pulls up next to me at a light and immediately started revving his car. I looked at him and laughed and he revved it again, so I decided to let him have it. Double left turn lane, we make the turn and I wait for him to get on it and I take off. I was goneeee lol. I pulled into a lot and he pulls in with me and his friends reaction said it all. “Thank you for that! Thank you for blowing the doors off of his car.” Lol! Driver asked what the heck my car was and we chatted and went on our way. Very satisfying coming from a wrx myself :D

Decades of racing at the drag strip taught me that the only people who exaggerate more than auto enthusiasts are fishermen ("It was THIS big!")

I can sort of add a late model Charger SRT8 to the kill list. It wasn't much of a race, but more of some dude blasting music with rolled down windows thinking his SRT8 with exhaust was the boss on the freeway. Guy seems to want to pick a fight with me, going hard in his own lane for no good reason, riding my ass, etc. The moment the lane to my right opens up, he floors it. I quickly figured, "okay, well, since you look like you want to be taken down a notch"... I floor it, in Comfort mode, and walk away from him continuously up through 120MPH and end up with about 2-3 cars. We hit some traffic, I get on the brakes, I look over, and the dude won't look at me, won't even do anything, and just goes about his way all quiet-like. Pretty sure I took him down a notch.

I was also testing my WMI system, so that's probably part of it. :sneaky:

I haven't spent decades at the drag strip, but I've watched quite a few people get humbled out by their inability to run 1/4 times they thought they could, so I'm definitely on the same page as you

This shows how alike charger drivers can be; I could have written the same post last week. My run-in was also a ~2013 SRT, also blasting stupid music, also driving like a douche. And he also wanted nothing more to do with me, after I destroyed him from a dig and from a roll; no eye contact at the next light, and took off gently when it turned green.

I think watching a Kia badge pull away from a loud (and admittedly much better sounding) muscle car engine is a pretty hard knock :rofl:

True, people don't understand that published acceleration times for a car were achieved by journalists with years of experience who had all day long to get their numbers. But here's an example of what I'm talking about:

There was an F body V8 Firebird that externally looked bone stock. He was running faster than documented times for that vehicle, so when he walked away I asked him if his car was stock. He said yes. After he left, I peered inside the car. The only thing that was inside was the driver's seat, the steering wheel, the shifter and dashboard. Everthing else was gone. Some people's idea of "stock" belies reality. lol

In this case, he probably thought you meant drivetrain, since that part was not obvious - it was obvious to look at the car that it was missing interior pieces. I'm not saying he was 100% correct in his answer, but I COULD accept that answer with regards to 1/4 mile time...

2017 Genesis G80 5.0
Give n go throughout US1, one good run. 35-40mph roll and I was walking away, no doubt the G is a strong car though.
