Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

^^I could manually select day/night mode for the nav display. Can't do that now.

I think you can select the black map theme which basically does what you wanted.

My beef is with the fact that it is super sluggish and the 3D function is not really 3D anymore.
We used to have beautiful skies in 3D view but now it's just a sad blue line at the top. Ridiculous. You can see bellow the evolution. The 2020 (middle) was clearly the best in my opinion.

Otherwise we do get really good map updates in Europe. I find it more reliable than Google Maps. And Waze is just really bad. Always tries to get you through the most complicated routes to save 3 min in a 6h drive.

Looks like the updates for the 2023 are temporarily unavailable. I will check the updater later today to see if its available to download. Not that I will be able to install it anyway as my car is at the shop getting the front bumper license plate holes patched....all 7 of them.

The problem is I can't force daytime at all times. Example, car is in the garage, not enough light to trip the brightness sensor so i'm staring at a black, hard to see map.

Re 3d, never used 3d on any gps. I get confused looking at 3d. Prefer 2d with tracking up, or north up if im trying to get an overview.

Someone from a Stinger FB group posted that after the latest update the only way you are able to call someone is by voice command now. Attempting to call using the screen results in a message that states to park the car in order to do so.

Also, this has nothing to do with the SW update but i've always found the switch between radio bands, satellite radio etc is very slow. Coming from other cars that switched instantly I find this somewhat annoying.

Yeah I dont know what they were doing. Not only was it 7 holes but they were very much so out of level and missed all the pre marked hole locations on the bumper.

Yeah I bought mine out of state, in a state that did use them. I ended up paying to have the bumper repaired, but it wasn't cheap.

I do believe this is more related to my 2009 Dell e6400 that I am using for this..

Guess I'll try again.
Good thing I cycle between 2 SD cards for these updates, so I just popped back in my yesterdays SD card and all is well

I got a couple of those too, maybe their server was overloaded.
I haven’t tried installing it yet.

After copious amounts of windows updates.... Finally got a clean download

Installing on car now, and no the car doesn't need to be running

^^^You must be using a battery tender then. Nobody gets this lengthy update installed without spending at least twenty minutes. I've updated twice and each took nearly half an hour.

I have the battery logs.... If you wanna see ..

I updated from 10:12 to about 10:48. Engine off, just my strong OEM battery. No external power/tender

Plotted along with coolant temp so you can see when I started



I think Kia didn't fully think through this SoundHound feature.

When you click the sound hound icon while listening to FM, you get.


And when you go to www.myuvo.ca (on a computer) there is absolutely nothing regarding setting up SoundHound.

Oh, and ... Good thing I wasn't using the inbuilt maintenance tracker .,. Cause this software update reset that without warning.
