Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

I suppose getting AA to full screen is a positive step. Seemed like a waste for only using 2/3's of it. Next they need to implement the wireless AA.

Does anyone else notice that the screen seems to take a lot less time to boot up an connect to the phone?

The only weirdness I've had with AA and playing music is that it'll start playing music, then about 20-30 seconds later, it stops. Then I have to hit the play button to start it again. I think it's a behavior conflict between AA and the music player I'm using...it's not specific to any update.

I can confirm that turning off split screen in screen projection settings enables split screen on Android. o_O

Not that I use AA, but it's good to have the option.

^^ Clearly splitscreen on == 0 and splitscreen off ==1. Reverse logic, like the forward/back tracks with the steering wheel control.

I think the "Split screen on" logic takes into account that the split screen gives part of the screen to AA, and part of it to built in apps that you can select (maps, weather, compass, etc). Disabling split screen technically gives up the entire screen to AA and leaves the logic to AA on what it'll do with the entire screen. It definitely seems like reverse logic, but also kind of makes sense.

For what it's worth, I selected "Allow up to 1920x1080 or 1080x1920" for Video Resolution under Developer Options in the AA app, and it looks fantastic on the Kia screen. I have a Pixel 5 and the Motorola wireless AA dongle.

Downloaded the latest (after unavailable) files, copied to SD card, and inserted, but without a long powerdown. Maybe that was it? It said "will restart", promptly restarted, but no updates were triggered. Went to the update menu, and it said "audio binaries (something like that) are the same version as currently installed - re-install anyway?".

Will try one more time with a cold start (i.e. insert SD card before starting the car), but looks like nothing new for my '19 GT1 AWD?

I've noticed one glitch in the update prior to the shutdown (I installed it two days before the update was taken down): the distance to the upcoming corners is really wonky. I thought last spring's update was bad this way: now the distance "remaining" can be 100 even after you've passed through the intersection. Any other oddities that others have noticed?

I will not be updating if they got rid of the tubes. One of my favorite features of the infotainment. They are referring to the image of the vacuum tubes in amplifiers. Anyone have an image of what is there now?
They got rid of the tubes

Anyone figure out how to get the audio to fade out? Did the update in my 22 and wasn't doing it. Thought it may be because I had that welcome/exit sound on so I turned that off and still no luck.

Maybe the restored update eliminated the audio fade? I've always had the welcome (exit?) sound enabled. And I didn't have to set anything to get audio fade.

Don't accidently turn on the stereo when updating. I did and it got stuck on a Spanish language station in-between frequencies at an uncomfortable volume. I couldn't turn it off, turn the volume down, or make any adjustments. About thirty minutes later it finished but wow, that was an experience.

What an exercise in watching paint dry! It's been ~2 weeks since they released the 2nd update, they didn't pull it, so decided to update mine.

In post 1236 you said it too took over an hour. I'm confused :) where did the 30 min come from?

Did it with the car in accessory mode with the battery tender connected.

Mine took 70 minutes from the time I pressed the final start on the touch screen. At the start, it said eta 25 min.!@!!@# RIght!

The longest was the initial step (1/5), the actual map data update. It after each section is completed (according to the bar indicator), it then either extracts files or validates the extracted files. That is, it was stuck at 100% of part 1 for a good 12-15 min or so.

Nice to finally get full screen android auto. Maybe next year we get wireless!

Re radio station display. It is a bit of a shame they took away the original bulb like digit display. Probably wanted to get the displays consistent between models. Less programming involved if that section is uniform. Would of been nice if they let the user decide. Adding presets seems easy enough, deleting requires multiple touches (no swiping of the station from the list). Is there a quick way to delete presets?

Still no way to turn on day time map color when it's dark (like in my garage).

The thirty minutes was the time in-between when I pressed the power button and when it got to the point of the update where it shut off. I was easily running the update for 30 minutes before my fatal button-pressing escapade.

So does yours still show individual update status? Mine used to, now with the last two updates I just get a short warning and a single status bar for the whole process. The first third of three bar takes just under and hour, and then the bar fills out pretty quickly after that.

Re: 30 min. Understood. That's crazy though. Last update I did 8/2021 took at most around 30 minutes. This one over an hr.

Pre-update, mine had 6/21/21 version (CK_PE.USA.S5W_M.V006.001.210621). I applied that update last August, about a week after getting the car (new). Originally, it came with 12/18/2020 (CK_PE.USA.S5W_M.V001.001.201218). Seems kind of odd for a '22 to come with software from 2020, but I guess they have thousands of these flashed ready to go, leaving it up to the customer/dealer to update.

I suspect the "RECOVERY" used to install the update probably got changed with last november's (11/2021) update. Mine did show the 5 individual sections, maps, system, gps, ucom (?) and modem. I would like to see more update status during. Otherwise it seems like it's just stuck in a loop.

They did do away with the circle hour glass, now it's a 4 vertical bars oscillating up and down. Also lost my gps history (recently searched) and favorites. Digging through the gps/nav settings there is an option to save some kind of history to usb. Might be a good idea to do that if this data is important.

I do wish the change logs were more detailed. We'll see what significant features november update brings. I'm fairly sure I won't be updating again for another year, possibly longer.

With split screen off (no check mark), I get the full screen AA, with it on, 2/3's is AA, right 1/3 is one of the car's screen (media/radio, clock, compass, etc..). I'm not sure why Devin's is reverse ¿?

Edit: Re AA full screen, that only worked with the 1280x720, 720x1280 option, not 1920x1080. According to the nav manual, it's 1920x720. Hmm...

That's the exact behavior I saw regarding both the split screen check mark plus full screen only on the 1280x720 option. If I left the resolution setting to the default as well as leaving the split screen check box unchecked, AA automatically splits the screen to have two AA apps on screen (Waze and music player for me).
