Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

@Kazz The SD card is kept behind the SD MAP "plate" (right above the HAZARD button), inserted in its slot. I think I tossed my original card. But I don't remember for sure.

The new SD card replaces your old one and remains in the car. according to the instructions. I put the old one in a safe place in case of a future problem (like the new card going bad).

Cheers

They told me the card would arrive in 7-10 days. Shipped out today.

I called them and spoke to a guy (Eric I think). He's sending me the new version for free. I was wondering how do you check the progress of the order? He did not give me any number (order/tracking) or whatever else

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It just shows up. After I talked to Randy, the order was placed the same day and shipped the following day (looking at the packing slip).

Cheers

That was smart. What was I thinking? Maybe I wasn't thinking.

Ah, OK, so we may see older SD cards showing up in places like eBay, etc. That's what I was doing for my wife's Acura.

I think both the cards and electronic updates are keyed to the individual cars, so the old ones are basically shot glass coasters ... :(

It would make sense if they did that.

wow, the guy on the phone said 7 to 10 days before receiving it. not even 48 h after I asked for it FedEx delivered it...very very good!

Yes that is what was installed in mine last week. Pretty useless really as today I drove on a section of highway that bypasses a town. The road was opened about 9 months ago but only showed up on the gps as a grey type soon to be built road. Seriously is this the best that KIA can do relying on a mapping company that doesn't even have up to date maps? What was I expecting!

I sort of agree with you, they are car manufacturers, I suppose they are at the mercy of the mapping companies so they have to also wait for up to date maps, doesn’t make it right though.

See if they'll give you the transmission Sport mode update everyone else in the world seems to have except Aussies. So it will stay in manual mode when you put it in manual mode...

The bigger problem is that the speed limit indicator is read from the maps instead of using the cameras (if equipped) to read the signs directly. There are dozens of errors and omIssions found within the first 1 hour drive after the update. Tens of thousands across North America. Again, stupid to think that the map would be the smart way to do that when other cars already demonstrate that live camera is better. And the car already has the cameras!

I don’t see this as an issue for me, as this thread states I was commenting on the sat nav update, again it works well for me & does what I need it to do, I bought this car for what it is, not for what it might/should be.

It's supposed to be a different car in Australia? Because everyone else in the world has what would be expected on a car like the Stinger, which is a proper manual mode.

Well I didn’t want a manual, owned manuals formerly, I don’t want again, I haven’t even used the flappy paddles so I don’t get your issue, if you want manual mode buy something else.
