Kia Stinger GTS

KIA's website builder shows the traditional shifter, no AC seats, and no HUD.

I hope they just copied the GT1 interior over on the website. That will be a massive let down if the US market get's skimped on again. I probably would not buy it if the above is true.

That being said, it's inbound to the dealer. I'll probably put a deposit on the car until I sort out my mind

Did you look on Kia's website here:

{{mctrl.meta.metaTitle}}

It's basically a blend of a GT and GT1 with orange paint and carbon/alcantara accents. Although it also appears to lack some of the good features of both trims. Like most of the saftey features of the GT1 like the smart cruise. No memory seats, the small 3.5" display, no sport gauges...

Very strange feature choices by Kia here...

If it's missing all those features, that's an easy pass. I'd rather get a GT2 and spice it up. All alcantara/carbon fiber parts are readily available, you can choose any colour wrap. And I don't know how often someone would use that drift mode. Canada doesn't get the GTS, but I recently saw someone driving the 20th anniversary edition on the road. The new wheels give it away, otherwise it's just ghost grey with red nappa.

I agree. The press release car seemed to have AC Seats, HUD, SBW, and a lot of other nifty things.

If the GTS is really a stripped out poverty pack GT with orange paint that will be a hard pass for me.

I can pull the fuse and brake switch on my GT2 AWD and have the same damn thing. I mean, not really but the self activated "drift mode" is free, and I retain all the luxury features.

I did yes, the specs on KIA and the press car have much different options. Hence, I'm betting the website is wrong, or we indeed got the shitty Stinger again.

Ok. Based on where they have it priced and how it is sitting between the GT and GT1 I think the latter may be true in your statement above.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

It's laughable. They should have made the GTS the GT2 with drift mode. The "ultimate" Stinger. The BMW M5 Competition, or M3 CS, or Audi RS7...top of the line model with some extra shit to make it really pop.

I'm losing interest quickly

I agree. Sort of like the 20th Anniversary Edition in Canada except they messed that up too. Give us the orange paint, carbon and alcantara, D-AWD on a car with GT2/GT Ltd features.

Not some shitty $1,500 up charge for an exterior colour we can already get with carbon interior from a GT and red leather that is already available in the US. And some wheels that don't really suit the car and were clearly an after-thought to help justify the up charge.

Do you want to talk about type of mess up? Showing the American market the Canadian version, then removing UVO Smart App, 360* Camera, Heated Rear seats, CF interior, etc, etc, etc. The deception is real!

I'm still thinking the website is wrong...you can see SBW, LKA, BSD, SCC, 7" TFT w/ perf gauges and AC Seats. Assuming the only real difference is the automatic lift gate and HUD I think I can get around that.

Making the GTS more like a GT makes sense to me by the way they're marketing it. They're focusing on some unique looks and raw performance while keeping the price down.

I hope it comes like like. That's appealing. The features on their website are NOT.

If you go on the Kia website and click on compare you will see the equipment that the GTS will come with, and yes it is between the GT and GT1 none of the GT2 options are present.

Yeah, that's the link I posted in #181 above.

If you look at the photo's online it is very confusing. The website shows none of the GT2 features, however the photo's show a lot of GT2 features.

I'm curious if the GTS has DBL and HB Assist. I'll have to wait until the car arrives at the dealer. I already told them to call me the day before it arrives so we can talk numbers and make sure they don't give it to the garbage detail dept that damaged my GT2's paint to the tune of $3,000

Here is what makes sense... The car is a 'drift mode' type of vehicle. Remember the vipers and other Dodge varieties of such cars? They all were more basic than the luxury line trims.

No roof, makes sense. Stiffer, quieter and lighter.
No front collision, etc... Makes sense. That crap is expensive and glitchy, plus it doesn't line up with the 'race car' line of thinking.

It all comes down to price. They want this under 45k, but also want a few unique characteristics.

Wouldn't make sense to simply paint and trim out a gt2... It would be sold at 60k. Ain't no grassroots guy spending that cash on this to beat it up.

I love the options in my GT2. I don't think I could live without the ventilated seats, the electronic suspension, and the hUD

This isn't a mass produced trim, there are 800 being made. This was their chance to have a 60K Stinger that was insane.

I guess I'm the oddball out. I'd totally pay $60K for a GT2 AWD, Carbon Fiber everywhere, Drift Mode, D-AWD. Sure, it's more money, but there are 800 of them, wild paint job. Why not go all out?

I actually just caught in the press car. The Electronic lift gate button? It appears to have everything a GT2 has inside, but no HUD?

I so lost now lol

lol. I'm pissed and excited at the same time.

Don't take my posts seriously. Just light hearted smack talk at the car!

I know, I'm just giving you a hard time.

BTW has your company considered fabricating a DRLs for our platform, one that goes in the front side vents?

We have not. I'm pretty sure it would not be a tough mould to product. Shoot me a PM and we can discuss. I'm not too in-tune with the market demand for those.
