3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

My company is a primary distributor for Jun B.L and I would be happy to assist. We can ship world-wide. Also, I may be able to request from Jun B.L to make one of their exhausts with no mufflers if you prefer a "race" type version that will be louder.
If you can request options. I understand a few people along with myself on the forum are interested in a evc with the option for muffler delete with the other option close to stock

After 25+ years of professional experience and training, in auto repair, and a lifetime as a "car Guy", I am convinced it is near impossible to "Out Engineer" the engineers. I learned w/ my 1970 Mustang Mach 1(in 1972), aftermarket items, while they may SOMETIMES provide enhancement, there is always almost a negative trade off.

Aftermarket manufacturers MUST claim improvement, or else they would sell nothing! Usually "UP To" this much HP, or "Up To" better MPG. Up to means from 0-?, it makes NO promise.

If one is going to consider modifying a vehicle, they should consider "What am I trying to FIX"? What is the cost and will the money spent, amortize and "Pay off". You pay your money and make your choice.

Hmm, so basically an axle-back exhaust with actuator? I'll ask them about that.

This is probably a case of "to each his own" more than anything. A lot of people change their exhausts simply to get the more aggressive/louder sound. Again, personal preference. What about companies that provide legitimate dyno's showing the performance gains of their products? Wouldn't that allay any fears of something just being a cosmetic change?

Coming from a community that tests and tunes their cars expressly for outfitted modifications, I can't wholly agree with what you've said here. I agree just swapping a part or tweaking a tune has pluses and minuses. But with enough research as well as trial and error, true characteristics of an upgrade can be learned and communicated.

All that said, I certainly strongly agree with your last sentence. And all of this combines, putting a person like me in patience mode awaiting fully quantified and qualified testing results of any modification before I'll purchase it.

When talking about exhaust, however, there is a large swath of 3rd-party adopters that will go for the sound alone. A good chunk of them will claim to love the new sound while many others will absolutely hate it. It's a very subjective modification. Some want the attention, others want the performance, and some want both.

Just my $.02!

Haha well it's a good discussion either way you look at it. In my position, I've seen many more people want to change their exhaust or intake based more off sound and (cheap) pricing versus performance gains. Of course though, the demographics I've been dealing with in the KDM scene for the past several years have been a much younger crowd. It's going to be quite a while before the Stinger market forms a demand channel. A company like Jun B.L. has always provided dyno sheets, so if they haven't posted those for their Stinger line, I'm sure I can request it. What I do know about their products though, they were contracted by Hyundai/Kia to make custom Stinger units for car shows and promotional events way before the vehicle's release. These units likely did not undergo the extensive R&D process that Jun normally puts their products though. I'll see what further info I can get.

the manufacturers do what's best for longevity of the vehicle. but they also often leave a lot of power on the table for it and when they want to increase power for a variety of reasons. you can take advantage of that extra power with little to no affect. sometimes. sometimes you can't. i think most people understand that making major upgrades will shorten the life of the vehicle. to each his own.

If you read the claims, often the claimed HP increase's are at very high RPM's. How often will one rev that high? Also, low end often diminishes, where we spend most of our time and what we really feel. I read it takes minimum 20 HP for a non-race car driver, to feel the difference.

Keep in mind, if you spend $600 on and "upgrade" it really cost you $800 when you factor, in a typical 35% state & fed tax bracket, one must earn approx. $800 to have $600.

That's why there has to be real, 3rd-party testing done before I'm buying. Dyno charts show when and where gains are found, if any.

Will it affect your warranty as it’s not factory exhaust mod. Muffler delete will be noisy and drone in cabin when driving not best to do. Check our YouTube and you will see. Jun BL mods are quality but the sound is just not quite there yet.

Waiting for @Sales@Tork to release his full exhaust...

His mufffler delete sounds incredible. Emailed them a couple days ago...hoping for some pricing soon.

I was trying to compare the sounds from a muffler delete and the Jun BL. Cant really tell the difference. But in terms of power gain, i guess thats where Jun will be stronger. In terms of warranty at where I am. Agent said that as long as the type of mod will not cause the car to be faulty and breakdown, the warranty is not void.

Hmm i wonder how @Sales@Tork does it. Got a local mechanic that could delete the muffler here and customise to just bolt it on. Anytime i dont feel like i like a muffler delete he can always put it back on. No welding whatsoever required.

We just made a single tipped muffler delete 2 bolts and its off and OEM one is back on.

Should be pretty soon before a lot of the other exhausts start hitting the market other than JUN BL. I know ARK has theirs out and Stillen is soon to follow! :D

Nicholas from KHARTUNERZ has been testing both of the
ARK versions and had his car at STILLEN for a few weeks for parts development as well. There is lots of parts in the works with companies based in Southern California.
