3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

Dumb question but I'm not familiar with the term " muffler delete", I've seen it used on this forum quite a few times. I've googled it but "delete" means remove, are you removing something.? Its not a term used here in Oz to my knowledge !
I will stick with my Muffler delete with 2 added resonators just to make it purr ! so far it work very well for now :)

It removes the muffler.

It means replacing the mufflers on the car with a piece of piping.

It's usually done as a cheap way to increase noise, but on the Stinger there's large crimps in the sections replaced and can actually increase power.

Thanks Shannon, Wow! Most concise answer ever!:) the pdf makes it much easier to understand the modes. You wouldn't happen to know if the valve is open or closed with no power to it? ( I may disconnect it if it's open). The note seems loud when starting, then drops down a few seconds later. It seemed to change at about 3000rpm, the chart says 2900rpm, so its working as designed. I wonder why "sport" isn't open at all times! Do you have a theory ? Cheers, Peter .
I don't have one myself but have read some people have put a on/off switch between the fuse and the exhaust wire if you pull the fuse out it stays on loud

I do indeed think that with a full muffler delete , on my GT stinger there is a torque gain but HP gain ,I am not sure about but with AIR INTAKE ,, I have read that they pick up around 40+ HP and good Torque ( with both muffler delete and air intake together ),from the gains with their garage GT stinger that they run on the Dyno ! FYI

I'm ready to buy an axle back muffler delete but am still concerned with drone. Did anyone ever come out with a muffler delete with resonator system? SSR never answered my email from a few weeks ago. Didn't see an answer on the NGM Omega posts either about sound and availability. I'm leaning towards the SSR vs muffler shop cutting out the existing mufflers and adding a resonator in case i decide to go back to the stock system. Also looking at either K&N or BMS intake, got good feedback from an owner that the K&N is louder but I can get one cheaper than the BMS. Still deciding.

I talked with SSR regarding their full exhaust option which included resonators as an option, however, based off what they said, they were not happy with the end result of their EVC product and would be postponing it, and probably cancelling it all together.

I went with Xforce which has a resonator and a muffler with an EVC that allows the exhaust to pass through freely, that option was pretty inexpensive as it also included catless downpipes for ~$1200.

$1200 isn't expensive for an EVC option. It's actually cheaper than some catbacks. How do you like it?

I like it, I'm going to meet up with another stinger owner that has the Ark exhaust for comparison. I'll post a video from that to get a point of reference.
I was really considering xforce. My concern on all EVCs is adding another part that can break.

Did you happen to post images of this mod? (Link to the page would be fine)

Did you go with the phone (bluetooth) app or the remote control button or hardwired button or a combo of those, for the ECV control.

I have both the bluetooth box and the keyfob box. The only problem with the smartbox is that it will lose calibration, so you have to recalibrate when you open the phone application, which only takes a few seconds. I haven't done any thorough testing to see if it functions without your phone app, or if it requires it to run. The box that comes standard just has a key fob for control with an on or off button. The smart box gives you the option to open at 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and it has a matrix mode which allows you to set which parameters it runs in whatever mode you want. You set a range of rpm, speed, etc that it will either open or close at, and then you can also set whether it will open and close outside the range and what percentage. So at the very least, it's an interesting toy, although expensive. I was looking at the FI Exhaust which would have been $4700 for the same features, so to pay an extra $350 for the smartbox seemed simple enough.

It seems really loud to me in either mode, much louder than the video. I don't think the video was shot with the catless secondary downpipes installed. The largest difference between open and close is the drone, at low RPM at high speeds it can be aweful with it completely open. I really think the smartbox is the best choice with the exhaust because it will allow you to open it up at high rpm and close it at low rpm. It also has geofencing options, and a manual mode, etc. I wouldn't get the smartbox if you are planning on running it closed most of the time, and only open it up occassionally.

Its loud enough that I have already installed dynapad, and will be installing dynamat when I get the time.

Here is the video. I appologize for the quality, shot and edited it on my phone. Open mode recorded quieter than what it's like in person but there isn't a huge difference unless the engine is under load. There's much more drone in open mode, but still less than the Ark.

Thanks for that StungnTn!

Yah, X-force sounds quiet compared to the Ark - Did you test if you had to keep the app open on your phone to run the smart box?

Honestly, I don't know, it sounds like it would be easy to test but it is not. If that is the case then my videos may be misrepresented by my variable exhaust settings. Where my exhaust is on quiet at less than 2500rpm. I'll have to unhook my smartbox and bypass it with my keyfob to see if there is a difference.

Thank you for the clip!
Seriously considering the Xforce. Don't want anything too loud.
Interesting to see the Ark catback is louder than a catless secondary system.
Only hesitation is the quality of the Xforce wields and materials as one poster pointed out...
