3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

This is 3.3. I wonder what they did with the sport exhaust. Maybe it’s more like the race. I wish I would have known about this 6 hours ago before I ordered my jun evc.

I got more info on the sport evc. It’s under 1400usd. I contacted the guy and I can change to the sport if I want. It only has one muffler so it’s deeper and louder. I would expect it to have much more drone as well. What do you guys think? I’m thinking the original evc is probably the way to go. I don’t want something super loud.

I believe this is a new evc sports from jun bl. 1 silencer with 2 exits one controlled by valve. I think it sounds better than the evc with 2 silencers.
Nope.

How did you like the sound of the Jun Bl besides the drone? I just ordered the Jun Bl evc this afternoon. I’m just wondering why you didint end up getting the Jun Bl evc.
Yes it was a toss up in the end, I know we shouldn't rely solely on sound clips but that's all I had to work with and to me the Ark edges it. I thought perhaps the JUN had a slightly higher pitch sound. The EVC on both brands was a bit over what I had budgeted for. Also although on the web site the Evc I believe wasn't available yet when I enquired.

Probably a dumb new guy question, but can you add an ecv to any exhaust? Obviously it would cost more, and maybe not be financially smart, but I’m just curious from a possible stand point, could one take an exhaust, like the borla or the ark, and place an ECV in it? I’ve seen some ECVs online, and was curious if you could take it to a custom shop and have them add it, would it work etc.

Thanks

Well you could buy a more quiet exhaust like magnaflow or even us stock then have them weld in a valve before the muffler. It would act like a muffler delete. But I would not see the point in doing this to the borla as it’s already very loud and the valve would just make it bypass the already loud muffler. They would not be able to make a loud muffler quiet with out adding another muffler and that would not be worth it in my opinion.

Ok, so you couldn’t reverse it basically. Like you couldn’t put a valve in that would make it quieter when you wanted, on a loud exhaust.

Gotcha. Thanks!

I checked there website and that video is from the 2.0.

The video says "Stinger Sport 3.3T E.V.C. Muffler" and the car itself says "GT" on the hatch.

There are two videos posted in the last two page and I don’t want anyone watching one thinking it’s the 3.3 as it sounds horrible.

This is the 3.3

This is the 2.0

In the second video the car is badged as a "GT", so is it supposed to be a 2.0 that has been rebadged?

not sure but that video is on the jun site for the new sport evc for the 2.0.

I'm with Kamauxx on this one. I'm not buying it. If the vid has a vehicle badged as a GT it is likely a GT 3.3

You can have a look at there site if you want. Who knows what kind of badges the come with in that country. That video does not sound even close to the 3.3. I’ve heard other videos of the 2.0 and they sound just like that.

I'm so torn on exhaust options. I ran an electric cutout on my Mustang and that was generally the best of both worlds - quiet on demand, stupid loud on demand, and a bit of in-between. I really wanted to keep from adding a bunch of wires and whatnot to the car, including speaker changes...basically leave it stock. I can't stand not having exhaust tone though and stock isn't good enough. I kept my exhaust valves and turndowns, so I would just need to buy the Y-pipes, get them welded in and run the wires to the battery in the trunk if it fits through the existing grommet back there. I could get the wireless switch and remote so then there is no additional wiring beyond the box in the trunk with the battery. Even if I did this route, I still typically remove the valves before winter and cap off since the motors tend to seize when left on over winter...which is just another thing I don't want to bother with.

Hmmm, what to do? lol

Borla is still in the R&D phase, as is Magnaflow. ETA on their Stinger catbacks is March/April 2018.

Jun B.L is absolutely LEGENDARY in the KDM market. I've been a vendor in the scene since the late 1990's and Jun was blowing people away back in the good 'ol Tiburon days. Their Gen Coupe exhausts had the highest quality (definitely way above mid-level brands like Borla/Magnaflow) and the greatest performance gains. Jun has contracts with Hyundai/Kia for pre-release events, car shows, etc. They're given the cars when they're in the final testing phanse (when you start seeing early spy pics pop up) so they always have a big head start on the competition.

Jun B.L usually does 3 different types of exhausts--GT, Racing and EVC. The GT is generally louder and has higher torque numbers. The Racing version has a larger muffler, but will still sound hella aggressive when you get on the throttle. Their EVC exhausts are sometimes different and sometimes the same as the GT and Racing (as is the case with their Stinger exhausts), but with the added feature of an open/close actuator that can instantly tune down the sound of the car with the press of a button.
Side question for you. Does Jun B.L make an exhaust for the 2.4 liter 2011 Sonata? Feel free to chat with me about this here, or in email mikben89 gmail dot com

Why are you even listening to the Jun sound clips, they are terrible There are better sounding clips out there

I have looked for those better sounding clips. Currently have not found any.
