3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

It's not ideal, but it had to be done. I have to go and dent it some more because a hard left still hits and sounds terrible. By hard left I mean basically until the steering wheel hits the limit. I rarely have to do that so the noise doesn't happen all that often.

Then something's definitely not right.

I got some from their first batch. I'm sure rwd vehicles will have no problem. I do have an ark grip exhaust but they fit up to the old down pipes no problem so I don't think it's those. I had to bend the right rear hanger to get the tips to hang lower so they wouldn't hit. I was told this kind of thing is normal but honestly first exhaust I've ever put on a car.

What is your opinion on the Ark grip? Ive had mine about 3 weeks.

I really like it but they shouldn't advertise it as having no or low drone. It definitely has drone from 1700 to 2100 rpms.

Hey all, i'm conflicted between buying the Borla or Ark Exhaust. Wondering if anyone has some insight. Borla is alot cheaper and based on reviews is the loudest but most prone to drone.

If you are concerned about drone I would stay away from the Borla. The Ark has a really cool and unique sound to it that I really like. If you sound deaden your trunk really well, and I mean really well, you can cut the amount of drone down quite a bit. Well worth the effort IMO.

Any idea how much quieter the Ark is compared to Borla? Is it substantial?

I'm going by my experience hearing other vehicles with borla exhausts. I have heard a few mustang's with them and they drone super loud. WOT both are probably similar. Anyone here have the borla and want to comment on drone?

What sort of efforts can be done?

Do those efforts limit/eliminate trunk space/usability?

Yes great exhaust especially like down shifting. I have drone dead on 1500 revs through to 2000 revs. The first week of driving was particularly bad. It appears to have settled down a bit now. I have got the dynamat and dynaliner ready for the trunk (boot). Going to install today, have taken the pain killers so i can lean forward.:D

I love my Ark but it can get loud in the cabin. You will get used to it and you will also learn to adjust your driving so you aren't in the RPM range that's the loudest for very long. As far as sound deadening the trunk, no usuability issues. Everything is done under the mats and spare tire. You have to remove all of it, and the side liners as well. 3 bolts on the bottom and 1 on the side under a cap for each side. There are a few of the blue plastic pop out deals, just give it a good yank forward away from the rear bumper. I shoved foam into the fenders on both sides and put really thick sticky tape foam everywhere else. I overlapped it quite a bit too. Just cut small pieces and stick them into places and you'll get good coverage. I also put foam all around the battery after I put the sticky foam down. Most of the drone comes from the spare tire bowl getting hit with sound from both sides and reverberating through the metal. I think I did all this in like 2 hours. Easily cuts the sound in half for the drone, but you can still hear it WOT no problem.

I used to own an optima and had the megan racing downpipe, ark midpipe, and kinetic cat-back exhuast. Is there anyone here who had an aftermarket exhaust on an optima and can compare the loudness of that to the exhausts on the Stinger.

Ok the pain killers took a few days to kick in and yesterday i applied the Dynamat XL Trunk kit it gives you five sheets that equal 20sqft. I used 3 complete sheets to the floor and wheel well area and right up close to the battery which was fiddly. Needed extra lighting so i could see what i was doing.

I also have 1 x sheet of Dynaliner in reserve just in case i need it. This measures 54" x 32". It is the 1/4" size (6mm) also comes in 3mm and 12mm.

Because i finished late i haven't started her up. Will do the long trip to work tonight so that will really test my handy work. Keep you posted.

Ok gave her a solid work out, reverberation has been reduced massively. Drone still exists but i say its been cut by 50-60%? It makes a difference i can now hear what im ment to be hearing. Enjoying the ride!

How did you like the sound of the Jun Bl besides the drone? I just ordered the Jun Bl evc this afternoon. I’m just wondering why you didint end up getting the Jun Bl evc.

I believe this is a new evc sports from jun bl. 1 silencer with 2 exits one controlled by valve. I think it sounds better than the evc with 2 silencers.

think that’s the 2.0..... that’s my guess anyways.

That sounds horrible!
