I'm sorry for what happened. That is just wrong.
Thanks.... I kinda thought about it and it made me happy that someone actually was jealous enough to do that in a weird way lolI'm sorry for what happened. That is just wrong.
Hey guys,
I purchased my Kia Stinger December of last year and around the end of January start of February, my car started stuttering really hard on acceleration or my RPM's would shoot up, but my speed wouldn't really go anywhere (ie, 5000-6000 RPM but it would take like 5 seconds to go from 30-40 merging onto a highway).
I took it back to the dealership where I bought it and they looked at it for a week but couldn't replicate the issue. The did change the oil and there was a recall on two hoses that were leaking that they replaced. I took the car home and didn't have any issue with it for about a month. Now today, (March 14th), I leave for work and make a left hand turn out of my apartment complex and notice halfway through my turn that my car jerks really bad and almost stalls out. My initial thought was that it was my low gas, but I went to the station, filled up, then had the same issue happen again as I left. (I know it's not bad gas because I had just drive ~400 miles on that tank before the issue happened and then it happened again on a brand new tank)
It got worse, when merging onto the highway, the power issue came back and I couldn't get my car to get past 35-40 mph trying to merge onto the highway at 5000-6000 RPM. I've taken my car in 3 times now, and will be taking it a fourth in 2 weeks time. The technicians can't replicate the issue, but my fiancee has seen it and witnessed the stutter issue.
If anyone has any inkling of an idea of what the heck could be happening, it would be amazingly appreciated cause I don't want to have to get a lawyer for lemon law.
When I first called to get my car into service I was told they didn't have time until 3 weeks later. The car wasn't safe and I wasn't going to drive it. They said I could drop it off and they would try to get to it, I asked so are you going to give me a loaner and I was told no. Yea right, wrong answer. I had to call the new car sales manager to be able to get my car in that night with a loaner.
He said the high pressure fuel pumps can't go on an airplane, fire risk. Ok fine but don't offer to give me my car back all washed and gassed up until the parts come in unless you are willing to accept liability if something happens. Which they kept pressuring me to do and I refused. Apparently if your car is in service for so long the lemon law takes effect and that is why they wanted me to keep taking it even though they knew something wasn't right. Love love love my car (very first new car I have ever bought for myself) but honestly at the urging of my honey I have actually started researching Alpha Romero's. This is the exact reason why I chose to lease and not buy out right, to many unknowns. And I don't even feel bad about returning the dealers loaner (Kia forte) without filling it up with gas. I was paying for a 42 thousand plus car and driving a 16 thousand dollar car. So was not happy.
Wow, this just sounds more and more bogus. When I first called to get my car into service I was told they didn't have time until 3 weeks later. The car wasn't safe and I wasn't going to drive it. I get it. LolThanks.... I kinda thought about it and it made me happy that someone actually was jealous enough to do that in a weird way lol
Didn't even think of calling the leasing company, will be doing that on Monday. Thank youI had a problem with a Mercedes where they had it in service for a long time. I called the leasing company, complained and they comped me a for a free month. Do it.
Your right, I never even though about how it could be a fire risk with no fuel. I just accepted what they said since I don't know much about cars and I just took their word for it. I did call the Kia service phone line and started a report complaining about everything, the time it is taking, the loaner, that no one seems to know how to fix these cars, everything. The funny thing is the dealer made me feel like they were doing me favor by giving me that loaner while they had my car. I'm just happy to have my pretty car back and it seems to be running good, now if I could just keep our neighbors cat off the car all would be right. Damn cat, any ideas on that one.Wow, this just sounds more and more bogus.
First, the dealer telling you to wait for three weeks because they "didn't have time" to take care of the problem with your Stinger is simply unconscionable.
Second, I would have asked the dealer to explain to me, in writing, how shipping a high pressure fuel pump via air can be a fire risk - IF THERE IS NO FUEL PRESENT IN THE PUMP?
Good on you for not agreeing to accept your Stinger until it was safe to drive. By encouraging you to drive it, that's strike three against the dealer.
Finally, sticking you with a Forte as a loaner while they had your Stinger is strike four. At that point, the dealer's out, and ejected from the game.
Have you called KIA's premium service phone line to make a report about your experience? If not, please do so.
If it were me, I would also report the dealer to my state consumer protection agency and to the Better Business Bureau.

Thank you I will be doing that.I would tell your service manager to give you the contact for an Escalated Case Administrator. This is the only way you will get the service you should have received and probably more. Trust me....
What a mess ... is there a monkey on rear seats or something? In exchange I have a dirty ugly loaner car
I just left my car at the dealer last Saturday. They are going to attempt to replicate the stuttering issue I have been experiencing . And for the 3rd time they are going to try to fix the noise in the back of the car. In exchange I have a dirty ugly loaner car. Now I have to get a provisional parking sticker from my town and also at my job, it is a lot of work and an inconvenience.I’m really disappointed.
I had the same issue when I purchased my 2.0 but it was my fuel pump. Car was very jerk when pressing on the gas pedal. But once the fuel pump was changed out. I didn’t have the issueI bought my stinger in August 2018. At around 2800miles I noticed it that it hesitated to speed when I accelerated. Then, on some occasions I would try to accelerate and it would jerk like crazy, and go back to normal. I noticed that when the stop go feature was on(I guess that’s how it’s called) my stinger would behave that way more often. Then, 2 weeks go by and regardless of that feature being on or off, my stinger seemed to be literally chocking while I tried to accelerate. Following day a get a pop up warning( major engine malfunction, go to the nearest dealership). I took it and apparently the code said it was a faulty fuel line. So Kia changed my stingers Fuel Pump and Fuel line. Took it home and definitely noticed the improvement in driving it and was able to accelerate without any choke ups and no stalling . Now I’m two weeks post fix and I started noticing the same issues come up again, And mostly when that stop go feature is on. My stinger is back at stalling, jerking when I try to accelerate. So I’m not sure if it’s not the spark plug that needs to be changed or it’s a transmission issue. ( I have the Premium 2.0 AWD model ) .
I wouldn’t wait. If you’re still feeling the jerking, I would take it in. I didn’t have a error code and once they noticed it themselves they ordered the product needed. Given that I did leave my vehicle their for a week so they could see the issue. It didn’t do it all the time, so they asked for me to leave itAfter they changed the fuel pump and fuel line, there was a noticeable improvement in the performance. Now, the issues I'm noticing are very subtle. Only if you drive the car consistently can someone tell, but they are there. I am going to give it more time, maybe it is also my PTSD from the previous experience. If it persists or gets worse I will take it back in for service. Last time my stinger didn't give me an error message until about 3 weeks after the issues started. Because I am pretty sure mechanics nowadays will only know how to fix a car only if the error message tells them what's wrong. If no error code then they will not even look at the car. I will give an update in a few weeks with my outcome. At some point, if the car is in the shop more than I am driving it I will get an attorney to file for a lemon law and get either my money back or a new stinger.
Yeah they had it for two days and they said the check engine light came on and it was a good thing I had brought it to themYea, you are right. I was planning to drop it off next week. It is frustrating.i was driving home from work this morning and I didn’t notice issues. I mostly notice them under sport mode and while that engine stop go feature is turned on. If I have it off , and not in sport mode the issue is barely noticeable. I notice it because I know the car and how it should drive. If I take it in again and then a month later I have to take it again for same thing , I qualify for the lemon law. So we shall see. It’s unfortunate because I absolutely love this car.
