I have one coming for my 2.0 I should be installing sometime next week. I’ll post some photos of install and how it looks when complete.

I'm curious on how these would do vs SSR's intakes.

SSR intakes will make more power being a completely sealed system to cold air even at idle. These will help when at speed for a ram air effect

Is this product more for those keeping stock air intake boxes? Would it benefit if someone had say diy, injen, tork intakes? Or most benefit would be for those with stock intake boxes?

It would benefit any intake, aftermarket more-so since they flow more air by design.

Thanks for info.
One more thing, the shroud we get rid of to use this snorkel, any downside to this?
Assuming it's a plastic shroud nothing important? Is it just a cover? Does it hold anything together? etc
Thanks again

It doesn’t hold anything together. I guess it’s used to direct air into the stock intakes.

It's just a plastic shroud that most cars come with. It is supposed to redirect air to the radiator but the funny thing is, the spots where the shroud converges are being blocked by the grille side hexes which is super perplexing from an airflow standpoint and in my opinion it serves no purpose but probably had to be deigned and implemented to follow some internal manufacturing/design/emissions constraints.

Just ditch it, you'll be fine, we have a 400+whp stinger running our big mouth without the shroud, all good!

Best,

D

Thanks I haven't taken bumper apart yet so this helps.
Where are the eom snorkels I cant see them thru the honeycomb grill but it's dark and freezing here.. do you remember where they are? I'm guessing not behind the grill? Are they off to the sides?

The stock snorkels are appalling by design (from a performance standpoint) and if I had to guess I would say they were designed with probably noise or emissions restrictions in mind, Kia probably hit their target power goals easily because of the twin turbo engine configuration and didnt need to optimize this part of the car, so why put more money into it if doesnt need it, it makes sense from a manufacturing and car company standpoint. Make the car quieter or something and get big fast sedan brownie points instead. Just my guess, I know a little about how these OEMs work.

Oh and for the stock snorkel design, they pull air from behind the bumper up above the radiator shroud which is completely blocked off because it is pressing up against the grille. The stock snorkels are basically asthmatic ducts which cause any intake to have to gasp for air and as soon as I pulled off the Stinger bumper I knew this product would be the perfect addition to any aftermarket intake. The stock snorkels pull air from a dead cavity, which means the air lost all dynamic pressure an I would even go an guess the air is sub ambient pressure in that region. Basically they suck.

Thanks again for the info and product everything you said makes sense. I really want to get these but concerned that I live in the northeast. I do not go WOT or anything stupid when going through large puddles in a bad rainstorm. I do need to drive my stinger tho in snowstorms a few hours at a time on highways to VT to ride. Any issues? I'd like to get it but as it's my main family car and toddler and wife, I wanna make sure that there wont be a risk of my engine bay full of snow after driving 4 hours during snowfall to VT.
Would this be an issue say 4 hr drive during snow?
Appreciate your responses so far very informative. I'm asking these questions because I like the product  just want to be aware of any risks or downsides if any before making another purchase for my car

Hey I hear you, and I wouldnt sell this product if it could cause any issue to a persons transportation. There are zero issues with rain or snow. We have snorkels similar to these on other platforms (mainly for Fords but ram inlets that function virtually the same nonetheless) and have not had an issue with rain or snow. You wont ingest enough water for it to matter. The only way I could see this being a problem is if you went WOT during a torrential rainstorm and hit a 3 foot puddle, at that point you'd have bigger problems.

:)

I guess a snorkel condom/prefilter would basically eliminate chance of lots of snow or ice chunks going into engine bay. Kinda like FILTERWEARS prefilter for cone filters lol
Maybe something else you can sell as an add on Velossatech?

Yea those socks work great too, I would probably not sell an add on sock just because there are so many different aftermarket air filter shapes out there and im not sure a one-size-fits-all sock would be feasible and I wouldnt want to stock 10 different sizes etc.. My suggestion would be just google filter socks and try to find one suitable for your particular aftermarket filter if you really really want to get a sock. But in all honesty you shouldnt have anything to be concerned about with rain or snow, we have thousands of big mouths around the world, in snowy climates, rainy wet climates and everything in between, I personally tested them here in south florida where it rains heavily, no problem.
