3.3TT KHARTUNERZ - NEW CATLESS SECONDARY DOWNPIPES Ark Performance

I have results. I'll have them printed tomorrow was not able to print them due to technical issues that will get resolved tomorrow.

Results are 20hp gain with just these pipes alone no other mods on my 3.3TT RWD.

Things to note when I do post the printed results. Dyno did not have Stinger info so had to be manually entered. Before results were showing 10-15 HP higher then what he expected from a stock 365 HP stinger, but the before and after he said does show about a 20 HP gain.

Also something I noticed when I loaded the OEM pipes in the car they are much heavier than the ARK pipes.

Took him maybe 30min once he had the car up on the lift to change out the pipe. Super easy anyone could do it would be hard without a lift though.

Does seem a bit louder will be able to tell more over the weekend as I had the seat down with the OEM pipes in a box in the back and it's pretty loud when you're on it with the seats down.

Was to much traffic and cops on the way home to butt dyno so will do that this weekend.

Here is a couple of photo's and a video of one of the pulls (oops my finger was in the damn view), exhaust smoke is from the new pipes burning things off.

Nice man! It is a bit louder but it comes from the additional pressure hitting the mufflers, not the pipes themselves. It is very close to stock for me now that I lined the trunk. You will be happy if you line your trunk, it's easy and quick, hour and done. Look forward to seeing your results.

Thanks, the tech was impressed. His dyno doesn't have any stinger info in it so had to manually enter it. He also did the pulls in 4th but adjusted the ratios on the dyno to reflect that. Because it was all manual he felt that it was showing 10-15 HP higher then it should for a stock 365 HP car but said that didn't matter as we were after the before and after difference which he said showed about a 20hp grain and was surprised it was that much.

I had the seat down so when it's back up I'll be able to see how much difference it was. I was wanting the exhaust louder so I'm fine with it if it is.

Quick question: why is the black bracket bent at a 90 degree upward? If this is part of the install, wonder if I need to take the install to a shop to bend...

No modifications were needed 4 bolts on the pipes and 5 on the bracket to loosen it to get the pipes out easier. Took him maybe 30 min once up on the lift

Sorry -- my bad eyes. Nice to see the pics and information from the dyno. Hoping mine shipped today. I think having an EVC exhaust is going to help me out. I also bought some sound matting as Chris 71 suggested..

The hp was higher cause the Stinger is more like 380 hp crank.

So the 365 from Kia is a understatement?
Does that explain why he felt it was 10 to 15 higher then it should be

Heres another angle

Smoofy,
I have seen several dynos that show the stock stinger at around 312-321
whp. Most have been very consistent at between 318-321, only one I saw at 312. I've looked at around 15.
In two weeks I'm getting my car done...base then map 2 on the jb4. I have
UPFMIC
Injen intake
Ark midpipes
Combined if we assume 20hp from ark (conservative) above advertises a total of around 45-50hp to rear. I'll post my dynos in correct thread but will link to them from here.

By way, now that I've driven with the ARK for a bit, I have 11k miles on my car since December so I drive a decent amount, I have definitely noticed additional pull/tork from the pipes since installing, loosing the two cats and smaller pipes has made a difference and is a good upgrade in my opinion.

Did some spirited driving in sport on a road with some nice curves and straightaways this morning on the way to work and definitely notice an increased exhaust volume sounds good to me. Did some downshifting into the corners and sounded awesome keeping the RPM's up and flying out of the corner.

Anything under 2k RPM and you don't hear it but after that you definitely notice it.

I've also seen many stock dynojets at 330-342 whp range.
So you are getting the before and after dyno with your ark correct?

That is correct got 3 pulls before and 3 after should have printout today once the sort out the computer issue

Interesting pics, Nick. These photos show the mounting brackets on the midpies bolted to the U shaped black bracket ABOVE (on top of) the black bracket, yet on page 2 of this thread, you show the midpipes mounted on an AWD car with the midpipe brackets mounted BELOW (under) the black bracket. MrSmoofy's pics also show his midpipe brackets BELOW (under) the black bracket. Why the difference? Is there a difference? Does it matter?

I'm more interested in chris71's gains on a modded car. I'm betting 5hp.
He may get more beimg his first exhaust mod.
0-5 hp gains with full bolt ons is my bet.

I've seen some, dynos are all different but typical drivetrain loss to rear is 13-15% so a stock rating of 318-321 to rear or 11-12% is probably pretty accurate for what they are running. Will be interesting to see smoofy's results:)

You did see that Mistermac documented & proved a 24whp gain(383 to 407whp) from just secondary DPs on his ECU tuned Stinger? So glad someone finally confirmed a significant gain even with a chip/tune.

Also since Chris71 said he feels more torque/power it must be alot more than 5hp to feel a real difference. It must be closer to 15-20whp to actually feel a noticeable gain in power and expect other dynos to confirm the same from secondary DPs on modded Stingers.:D
