Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

It might not be worth trying that out, unnecessary wear on the motor after all.
The engine can take it. Kia built this powertrain to be as bullet proof as possible.

Only had the Stinger for just over four years: never had a car with buttons on the steering wheel before. Yesterday, I discovered that the volume + - button is also a pause button (USB media: don't know what it does with radio) if you push it in: I finally noticed the little speaker icon between the + and -, and it has a diagonal (cancel) line through it.

For radio, it's just a mute button.

It would kind of be nice if you could customize it to pause Sirius/XM channels, since they can be programmed to record.

You could actually do that with the "Mode" button in one of the first versions of the newer purple UI, unfortunately that feature was removed in a more recent update.

Notice the difference in camber from the rear wheels to the front?

Camber? If so, it’s a lot more noticeable when lowered. It caught my eye almost every day when I had my stinger. Also wore the insides of my rear tires

learned that the 4th setting on the wiper stalk (Second fastest) moves the wipers at 125BPM, as it synced up perfectly with the Tempo of Crab Rave this morning.

I guess so. The more I look at it, the more it seems like an optical illusion. Maybe one degree difference if that?
Oh it’s there all right, I could of taken a better pic. The last time I saw a setup like that was on the myriad of Porsche and bmw’s. I’m kind of ashamed I haven’t noticed it in 4?years. Lol

Camber in the rear is pretty normal as well as a slight toe in on rear wheels woth most cars. Helps with loaded suspension in the rear outside corner when steering hard. The front camber is what tunners do in order to have the se effect for the front when the overall ride is stiff and most often front bias (in rideheight)

There is my rant hehehe

See, this is the sort of thing that really needs to be included in all car brochures and user manuals.

Re spare tire, the way it sits in the wheel well, one has to remove it to check pressure.

I left mine with the valve stem ~4oclock position last time (still facing down). Just enough room to get the inflation clamp/hose on it.

Check periodically else it'll be no good when you need it. Mine was low, ~50 psi since the last check last nov.

As much as the stinger is NOT FUEL EFFICIENT.

It seems as though, when the temperature is spring or summer, and the battery is fully charged...

The alternator reduces charge voltage when driving, and increases charge voltage when decelerating.

In this video, whenever the boost gauge is pegged at minimum (means i am decelerating) the voltage jumps up to near 15.

When just cruising - voltage is reduced
I guess it's an attempt at fuel savings

Mine went from 60 psi to 50 psi in over a year between inflating. My first (so far only) time using the spare was a month ago, and I was worried beforehand that it would be too low to be useable, since it had been a while when I inflated it last. But 50 psi is plenty.

I think the Stinger gives a reasonable compromise between mileage and performance. I'm generally getting about 25-26 mpg, plenty of gas sucking traffic due to the gross ineptitude of TX DOT construction and some interstate miles.

I would like to know how to get the gauge presentations you show. I have a GT1 with of course the 3.3L TT. Thanks, Don

Not to mention the feeble minded drivers in other cars. That will always kill mileage

Now I know why it downshifts harder on deceleration b/c the alternator is tugging it down! :)

Speaking of deceleration I need fuel again :poop:
