Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Discovered if you put it into drive as soon as it starts, and the parking brake was on, the brake does not disengage. Pressing the (P) button down didn't work either, you have to put your foot back on the brake first.

Didn't spend any time trying to figure out the sequence. I'll just wait 1/2 second before putting it into drive..

Also, if you have the seat "easy access" option enabled and you put it in gear too soon, they stop moving before getting to the preset configuration.

I just discovered that if you don't put gas in the Stinger for a month then the car won't start any more.
wait! WHAT?!.......Mine sits under a car cover, full tank, whats this car wont start crap?!

Heh, my lawnmower starts every spring after sitting all winter with gas in the tank (a theoretical no-no, I know). I think the Stinger is a bit more ready to fire up than a Honda hydrostatic mower!

(addendum: My sense of humor is piqued to its highest pitch by taking what people say literally when I know better. :D)

seriously thinking about a battery tender for the coldest months......I was gonna take the tarp off but the salt truck rolled by; quickly put that thought to rest. .........

car is going back under the cover...another winter storm rolling in.......(I got awd why?!) lol

Two discoveries this afternoon; well, one, and the second was more like proving a point: just making sure I was right.

I went through the car wash tunnel twice today: because the first time they did not engage the "triple foam and under chassis" spray. Heh. I went to the park to walk, and I first finished drying off the stubborn drops that always emerge when you drive away from a car wash. That was when I made the discovery: the front passenger window was DOWN three-quarters of an inch! WTH!? I checked for water encroachment and damage, but there was nothing: a few widely separated drops on the floor mat, seat bottom, seat belt housing, that was about it; nothing whatsoever on the inside of the door or window. Our Stingers have very, very good window seals!

The second "discovery" was how easily I loaded up four, large high-backed diningroom chairs. Piece of cake. :D I could still see out the rear "porthole" window:

I found out you can't see shit at night with 5% tint on the car.

(it was a shop error, and they fixed it).

You could always use the 360 camerqa and go like 10km/h :D

I learned on a long road trip that the wireless phone charger puts out so much heat my phone (samsung/android) gave me a message that it was shutting down all apps due to thermal overload and I needed to let it cool for 10 mins so it would work again. That's not a "feature" I wanted!

Check to see what the rear seat temperature knob is set to. If it's set to hot/too warm it'll warm up the wireless charger quite a bit.

Oh! This I did not know. I'll check it 1st thing. Thanks!

That's usually the culprit.

The independent rear heater (that is mentioned nowhere in the manual or anywhere in the KIA-published materials/sites for that matter) can be left on even when you have the A/C cooling the car to the max. It not only makes the A/C work harder, it also heats up the entire centre console tunnel. And, due to a design flaw of inadequate heat shielding/insulation, cold or hot weather outside, if set on heat it can easily overheat the wireless charging pad. My phone goes into low-speed charging mode, so you can find out hours later that it managed to charge 20% the entire time it was on there and no, you don't have a fully-charged phone as you should have expected. Your result was even worse!

I discovered a cool feature in the engine bay. if you drop a plastic trim clip or a small wrench in there, it ends up in another dimension. 3 plastic clips were lost, never to be seen again. 7mm wrench ended up on the frame in a spot behind the front right wheel. Took me an hour to find and another hour to fetch :)

Perhaps eating fried chicken and working on your car should be done at different times.:geek:

The horn beeping when the remote starter times out and car shuts off is annoying, mostly to my neighbors I think at 4:30 am :)
