Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Kind of related, since it is about "rolling" up the windows

I'm exactly happy with the way it works on the Stinger.

I believe the idea is to lock the windows out from the kids in the back seat, especially playing by repeatedly opening/closing the windows. I keep that lock on always so my kids don't have control, but my wife sitting next to me can open if she needs without bothering the driver.

My wife's Toyota Rav4 is annoying because the window lock LOCKS OUT THE DRIVER TOO! So what happens is my kid rolls down the window. If I lock him out then the window's staying down, so now I'm suddenly in a battle of wills, holding the UP button while he holds DOWN. Ultimately, he lacks the wisdom and patience of adulthood so will let go of the button. The window will inch up before he holds it down again. A few cycles of this and the window's back up! THEN I lock him out and am done with it.

If you push the power button to turn the radio off so it displays AV Off on the infotainment screen you can turn it on again by tapping the screen rather than pushing the button. It doesn’t work if the infotainment system is turned off fully to the point that it shows the screen saver on the screen. Stumbled across this yesterday after nearly a year and a half of ownership. It may have been mentioned somewhere in the other 80 pages of this thread but I couldn’t be bothered looking to check.

I use ECO all the time. I installed the Racechip XLR Pedalbox and setting it on Sport+ gives me the same pickup in ECO as though I was in SPORT.

I have the XLR also ... absolutely love it! S+ setting gives me much better throttle response. No need to mash the right foot.

Same here, I really love it.

I use S+ and Comfort for everyday driving,
S+ and Smart for highway cruising (good mileage),
and R+ and Sport when I am driving fast.

Look what I found/discovered this morning. I bring my cleaning supplies and other car stuff in the house (when I remember) to keep it from freezing. In the previous carboard box, these two items have spent the entire 20 plus months buried under towels and cleaning rags. Lol. The cargo net box is opened; which means, of course, that I opened it shortly after getting my car, then put it away and forgot about it completely: whenever comments about cargo nets have happened on the forum, I've always thought, "I didn't get one." Heh!

Does anybody actually use the anti theft wheel lock set?

I’m probably not using the security lugs properly. I sit on a lawn chair next to my car at night, and throw the lugs at passerby’s I deem threatening (looking at ginger). I explained to the cops they were a factory option...

I didn't get the lock nuts on purchase! No matter. Installing Compustar remote start, alarm, and drone mobile next week. Plus, those lug caps are damn hard to get off!:D

Are yours glued?! Mine pop off with a mere tilt of an angled pick.

Installation is this Thursday. Will have bypass and remote start with the OEM Fob. Decided not to get Drone Mobile at the moment.

Nope. I got the wheel lock and the cargo mat too, both are still in their packaging untouched.

I was hoping that the dealership would throw in the cargo mat but no luck. That's ok though. I'm likely to get a cheap sheet and link the cargo area. That has always worked for me and kept the back nice and clean.

Discovered that when the rear parcel shelf is removed it fits snugly on the boot/trunk floor.

It can also be slid behind the rear seats vertically, though it does block most of the view from the rearview mirror.

Fun little discovery. If auto hold is engaged, when you come to a stop and take your foot off the brake, you can shift the car into Park and the engine won't turn on. Especially helpful little hack when parking in my garage with auto stop/start wanting to turn the engine off as soon as I stop in my garage.
I've done it a few times so far. Works every time. Just don't touch the brake when shifting back into Park.

Auto hold also works in reverse - great for checking out your upgraded reversing LED lights..

Discovered if you put it into drive as soon as it starts, and the parking brake was on, the brake does not disengage. Pressing the (P) button down didn't work either, you have to put your foot back on the brake first.

Didn't spend any time trying to figure out the sequence. I'll just wait 1/2 second before putting it into drive..
