Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Thanks, I note yours is set for kpa & mine is psi.
Well I just discovered that in the user settings, other features then tyre pressure unit if you change that from psi to kpa then it will change the Boost/Turbo read out.

I remember mine initially was set to kpa. I changed it in the settings. I probably had Turbo too but can't recall. Boost and psi now. Nov '17 build.

Mine stays at “Boost” no matter what value you use, but I find it interesting that by changing the tyre pressure value also changes the Boost/Turbo value.
I prefer psi for tyre value, I’m old school & psi in tyres make sense, kpa does my head in...lol.

Is there a way to remove preset radio stations from the menu? I added XM stations as a preset and now the free year is over and I want to remove them.
Wait a minute! Free YEAR? I always get 90 days free when I get a new car!

I noticed for the first time (been at this a whole year plus, heh) that the little compass in the upper left corner of the NAV screen does not always match the quadrant letters in the rearview mirror. It's close: the NAV compass will show "W" and the mirror compass will show "NW": then the road will twist a bit and they'll be in agreement.

I also noticed for the first time that if I use the paddle shifters the trans reverts back to "D" on its own after c. five seconds. Yes, I know this has been discussed: but I thought that the GT1 was different from the GT2 that way. It's not. If you are not in Sport mode, the trans always reverts back to "D". The reason why I never noticed this with my car before is because I always pushed the shifter into "manual gate" when I want to use the paddle shifters. Yesterday, I just played around a bit with some downshifting without being in manual gate or Sport, and thus the "discovery".

So been about a month still looking through all the info screens thanks to the help of this forum didn't know about half of them. Ran into this one but no idea what black magic this is LOL.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system is designed to help combat distracted or drowsy driving. This system monitors a number of inputs from the vehicle and the driver. It will sound a warning chime and display a graphic in the instrument panel that it’s time to take a break from driving if it senses the driver’s attention level has been significantly reduced.

I kinda like it that way. I drive paddle style 95% of the time but when I am in regular auto mode it's nice to be able to use paddle down when needed quickly and it automatically reverts back to normal auto.

Now that I know my car does this too, I will make downshifting from "D" part of my paddle mania. :)

Had this one pop up a couple of times when I drove my new Stinger home from Indiana the night I bought it.

Not sure if this is software/firmware dependant but this happens on my car -

In Setup, Drive Mode and setting up CUSTOM mode options (engine, steering, suspension etc) if you adjust the engine sound from loudest to the lowest it also affects SPORT mode.

Rather than putting it in reverse and then drive to activate the sensors while trying to park, have either of you just considered hitting the button on the center console that activates the sensors? Not sure if the US and UK models have them but the Australian one does. It’s on the bottom left next to the camera button. I know the US don’t have the 360° camera, not sure about the UK, so not sure if you have the same button setup. Anyway it activates and deactivates the parking sensors. View attachment 19827
Different button set up on the Canadian GT Limited. Ours has (left DS to PS right) seat warmer/ventilation swivel, heated steering wheel button, 360* camera on/off button, ISG system button, seat warmer/ventilation swivel.

Wow! Really? :) Back in college I had a '74 Saab Sonnet III. Very interesting car in many ways and one of the features it had was a throwout bearing on the 4 speed manual transmission. When you let off the accelerator, it would go out of gear and then when you pushed on the pedal again it went back into gear. I averaged 35-40 mpg out of that 1.7L V4 engine. Could easily coast from 55 mph to 70 going down a moderate hill. Made it great for drafting during the oil crisis years too. Here is a pic of a Sonett just like I had (even the same green)!

Never saw any of those in Canada.

Three features I like on this car so far are:

1. Telescoping sun visor that's useful when you need full side coverage from the sunlight
2. If you flip on the signal to try and change lanes when a car is detected in the blind spot, a warning chime sounds
3. The AUTOHOLD feature I love when my right leg and wonky hip gets tired at red lights, or when waiting at the Drivethru for coffee

Anyone noticed that the car sometimes doesn't recognise you walking up to it when locked (ie puddle light doesn't come on and mirror fold out)?
My 2018 GT2 is like that unless the doors are locked?

How is Sport mode affected if minimized engine sound is selected?

Probably means you can change it in sport mode.

As best as I can tell, my '19 has one fake sound setting which is the same for all driving modes.

RE: SPORT mode and engine sound.... Yeh it’s more to point out that even though you’re changing settings relating to the CUSTOM mode the engine sound setting on that page also affects SPORT mode.

So if you wanted a quieter ride (minimum engine sound), sport engine and transmission and comfort suspension when using CUSTOM you can’t go quiet without it also affecting SPORT mode. In my case frustrating and logically it makes no sense as that setting page should only affect the CUSTOM mode (you’d expect ECO, SMART, COMFORT, SPORT to all be fixed settings else have their own pages t alter their settings).
