Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Oh you Guys didn't know that ?

If you break very hard, the hazard lights turn on and stay on! you have to turn them off manually. I had that happen about 4-5 times now. To be honest I would like to see them come on earlier, because to me it felt like there was no way in the pedal left

I thought all mid to high class cars nowadays do that. For example MB's Flash the brake lights like 5 times very quickly. My old Civic (2016) indicates normally as Long as you break that hard. BMW does the same if I'm correct. Audi's do something as well.
You see that on the Autobahn evey day. 4-5 cars go +200km/h a slower car ~130km/h pulls in to their lane. you can place your bet which car's will start to Flash the hazards  mostly 3-5 car in the row

I've never had my hazards come on after braking hard. I bedded my brakes over a 10 + mile stretch of hwy and nada.

That may be a non-US safety feature.

@Schpok I think the hazards turn off if you accelerate again (TBC).

@Kamauxx what speed did you drop down to when bedding in on the hwy? Could be a factor. I didn’t come to a complete stop but it wasn’t far off it.

Definitely doesn't on mine, so must be non-US feature.

Usually I've seen it happen when the traction control or stability control engages in other cars. Have not seen it happen on the Stinger, nor have I tried to do it.

I’ve noticed that the hazards engage automatically whenever my wife drives the car. But I just assumed that was in the nature of a community service announcement. ;)

Yep, think it's a non-US feature. Slammed my brakes while going 40 MPH last month after an old man turned in front of me. No hazards. One more foot and there would have been insurance issues. I can say, the Brembos did their job.

Not sure if this has ever previuosly discussed.... Heads up display speed changes to italic/slant font in Sport mode. I just noticed this yesterday. Kind of odd, and unnecessary.

I've slammed the brakes on two occasions. Once from c. 70+ MPH to a full stop - almost missed the stop sign where Hwy 78 joins Hwy 95 in Oregon. And the second time coming out of Millcreek Canyon, again a stop sign (this time behind a tree), and locked up all four wheels on gravel; slid into the intersection, dammit. I can confirm that no hazard lights lit up.

Another think I discovered if the car in front of you is too close the car gives you on the heads up display warning sign in red of imminent collision, cool feature.

So far this has only happened once but my sales guy says he has seen it happen on many Kia models and no know fix.

Friday 4/5/2019 afternoon using the USB port to connect an iPhone for music worked fine. 4/6/2019 morning using same iPhone and cable when plugged in all audio is lost even FM until the car was turned off and turned back on without the phone plugged in. Tried again same result, then tried a Android Phone with a different cable same result. No audio until phone is unpluged and car is turned off and back on.

Then 4/7/2019 morning everything is working find again no issues.

Buggy software. Someday, it'll be worked out. But for now, grrr.

I've sort of lost hope that they will ever fix the issue where there is no audio - I've seen the same issue on a 2016 Optima, 2017 Sorento, and the Stinger. It's just something I've learned to live with and it's unfortunate that Kia hasn't chosen to fix it after several years and across models.

Yep ... My radio had no audio for the first time in a year and a half after I started the car. Turned the radio off and back on and bam! ... fixed.

Valet parking attendant couldn't figure out how to put GT2 fly by wire in park :)
Yet another confirmation of why I'll be planted for my dirt nap without ever having used a valet service. Almost missed a flight once because I pulled in a valet airport parking lot by mistake at the last minute - I still drove out and found another non-valet lot, just making it over to the airport and onto the plane in time.

Bad enough it's high performance and subject to wanton abuse, without adding negligent damage caused by people unfamiliar with how it operates.

Here I am, sequestered in a cheap motel (Travelodge in Albuquerque, NM); with my pretty car out there in the midst of strangers, many of them looking pretty rough around the edges, and making me nervous. I am not a good traveler. I feel too exposed and vulnerable. It is a weakness I wrestle with. I would never hand my Stinger over to a valet parking "person".

The Trip A & B computers only go up to 9999.9 miles and then stay there...

Swear my Optima Trip mileage went to 5 digits but can’t remember for sure.
