Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

I discovered that when you go from listening from Spotify to Google music our HK system becomes much much more crisp and solid, I am amazed how awesome the HK sound system sounds on Google music, don't know why...Now on google music sounds as good as the BO system on my other car. The source is everything. On my HK headphones, I was intrigued at the difference in what you call "solid" and a lack of that, or fullness. The difference was in the original recordings, the lacking one being an mp3 off a vinyl record. The industry standard has of course gotten better. That is analogue difference, of course. Compressed digital files are not going to sound equal but if augmented by ClariFi they can get close. It would be interesting to test the differences in your sources with ClariFii on and off, and see if it makes Spotify and Google more on a par with each other.

Check your settings in Spotify. Quality is an option. I don't stream Spotify, I download my selections and have the quality set highest (128GB phone storage).

Not sure if posted already, but I noticed when the passenger seats are down, the exhaust is much more pronounced
I do have SSR Downpipes... but yea, way more growly and you can even hear the gurgles a little better as you let off the gas and come to a red light.

I feel the system is highly resolving especially for being a stock car stereo. I feel it is very detailed and sounds wonderful. My listening is primarily through XM Sirius and the Tidal app on hi fi settings. A resolving system shows the warts of a bad recording/broadcast. As such, you will get crap at the output if the input is subpar. The FM radio stations here sound awful in that car. I have a GT 2 and I love the sound system. I am a bit of an audio/home theater buff and I spend hours a week listening to music at home. The HK in the Stinger makes me smile too.

Just think it's a little odd.....the two switches right next to each other (parking sensor/auto shut off) Are complete opposites in function.....parking sensor with light emitted =on, while auto 0ff with light emitting means system disengaged or off

Well on a related/next-door note, I find it unintuitive that you push the seat heat up for full, then up again to lower the setting. They're very cool switches but their operation is equally odd..

Actually, I think that is smart design - when somebody has a cold butt, especially during winter weather, chances are they want maximum heat. That's my go-to setting, turning it down later if needed.

If they designed it to turn on at the lowest setting, then every time it was turned on (in this case) you'd have to push three times to get where you wanted.

As for pushing UP to turn the heat setting down, on my car that's because pushing DOWN turns on the seat cooling - so all heat changes are in the up/forward direction.

I wonder if it's an engineering design thing. I don't know if it applies these days but think of your ceiling fans. From Off to the first pull of the chain they are on high. I was told a very long time ago this was because it was bad for the fan motor to start in slow then it was to start in fast and then be turned down.

Yes, I know that. I'm just saying once turned on, it's not intuitive to press "up" again to set to a lower level (which I do often)..

Now there's a great idea, I use an old phone as MP3 player, so I will be downloading my playlist.

Now looks like I will have to work with my Spotify Equalizer settings to get sound I want, Kazz, do you connect with bluetooth or cable through aux port?

I use bluetooth with my Pixel2XL. Every time I try to use a cable Android Auto launches and is a mess. LOL

Was on a Bluetooth phone call when i pulled into a carpark and turned engine off. I continued with the call for a few minutes and then bluetooth disconnected. I was able to continue with the call in the usual manner. Perhaps I should have gone to accessory mode and Bluetooth would have continued to operate?

If you switched to accessory it would have given you a battery discharge warning and then switched itself off after about 5 minutes anyway. Best option is probably just to leave the engine running until you finish your call.

Under heavy sudden braking (and assuming large drop in speed) the hazard lights go off a few times.

Noticed this when I was bedding in my brakes.
That's a new one, good find.
