I'm the president of Lozic in Korea.

Welcome to the site and very interesting introduction.

I can't believe Tork really thought that blackmailing someone into working with him was ever going to work out. Why would you ever want to start a business relationship like that...
It's not blackmail, I offered to pay for the file. Just not the $85k they were asking.

Keep up the good work Lozic!
Unfortunately Tork is going down the wrong path here and that kind of communication may work stateside, but not in Korea. I'm Korean and one thing I learned growing up is that business in Korea is done very differently vs stateside here in the US.
Before any new business relationship starts, you typically meet up in person at the very least and build a relationship over a bunch of dinners or what not. And after a bunch of those... IF there is a feeling of trust and clear beneficial business dynamic, will business be conducted together going forward.
Too many instances of getting screwed over and being taking advantage of... is why business in Korea is done that way + of course culture
my 2 cents
You think I have not been trying to work out a deal for the last 7 years? Two sides of the story here. I am tired of being held hostage at buying factory data for absurd prices, then to have the Korean tuners hold the US market captive. If anything, it's a tuning monopoly on KDM cars.

At least there is someone willing to stand up and attempt to force their hand, not only for me... but you the consumer.

I don't like making lame excuses.
I will show you more new things in the future.
Even if others do the same thing that I can do, what I made is different, so I am standing here.

I will cheering your business as well.
Strive for the good in the future.

This just got interesting…

How is this not a threat/blackmail?

I can def. feel your frustration here. Actually an early buyer of the tork catch cans and intakes when they came out. But waiting till 50k to tune.. almost therr.
So if I'm understanding correctly it's the mapping file showing what attribute/variable definitions are that you're looking for?
Well, if your tcu tune is as good as lozics maybe your strategy will work or some other Korean tuner works with you so you get what your are looking for whether buying it or sharing tunes for other platforms not common in korea.
The 99$ tcu offer is tempting tho. not gonna lie...

Because I am allowed to release my product at any price I deem a "value". I also offered to pay for said data that they have. Blackmail, involves extortion... not a willingness to pay for what you have.

Yes, the manufacture releases/leaks ECU/TCU data sets that give a general definition set inside of said TCU/ECU. There is still some work involved with lining up the different market ECU/TCU applications. These files are normally referenced as A2L or DAMOS files. These files are engineering files from the car manufacture for said application. Example, if I need an A2L file for a KIA Stinger 3.3TT SIM2K-260 ECU that is something that you get from KIA directly.

Oddly enough, another shop (not to be mentioned) has in fact reached out to me and given an offer for the files that I need. I first have to confirm what they have, and hopefully these are legitimate files.

It is a threat in the least (and to me, blackmail. Yes, blackmail can still be when one is offering to pay for something else I will do this in retaliation). As you said in your email, "or, I will give my TCU" and "Yes, you read that right...". You even put a time limit on it. This is a threat in the simplest terms, meant to hurt the ones you are trying to "buy" from if they do not give (or sell) you what you want.

You even went as far as saying you will "deny that you ever sent the email".
Why deny your own action if you did not think it was wrong to begin with?

I am finding this more and more hilarious each time it's stated.

1. There is no proof, something that someone said about a purchase in California... blah blah blah. All hearsay.
2. I would have had to buy two, possibly 3 TCU's from them in order to map the cable shift, GTS and electric shift TCU's. Do you think they would have allowed a single person to buy all 3?
3. If... I did take their file and I am reselling it. Riddle me this, how did I enable 2 Stage Launch Control, when they do not have this feature? How did I extend the factory rev limits, when they do not sell TCU's with extended rev limits? How did I manage to tune everything in all 3 TCU variants off of one supposed TCU from them (the cable shift, GTS and electric shift TCU's are different in their mapping and a single mistake will disable the transmission).
4. Lastly... why am I not offering a spare TCU programmed with their file? In order to program a spare TCU you have got to disable features inside of the TCU and write or disable VIN recognition (I am still trying to figure this out). I could have easily of read, and written their tune and accomplished this myself.
5. More importantly... how did I break their encryption? These TCU's have to have some crazy encryption in them, because they waited 2 years before releasing them to the US market. If I am that good at breaking their encryption, I wouldn't need their file to begin with.

Just a few things for you to process while making the accusation about me.

It is a threat, because I spent the last 7 years trying to build a working relationship with them. If they do not react to kindness, then maybe they will react to market saturation of the product.

Just so we are clear, I offered multiple times to pay them for the products, they have refused to answer, reply, Said no and then said $85,000 USD for the file. If you ask me, that more insulting than me selling a product that I produced for for $99.00.

In all honesty, I should have just released the TCU tune for $99.00 and not said a thing, but that doesn't help anyone.

And... let's be honest here, this market needed a price adjustment to its TCU tunes. $1000 - $1500 for a TCU tune is insulting to this community. I could have easily of sold this tune for $495 and offered a tuning option for end-user tuning at $895 (at home flashing and tuning service so the tuner can dual in the perfect LC and shift RPM/harshness) and still made $500 per tune. As of today, I have 39 sold TCU tunes, at the loss of $20,000 to me.

Competition just breeds innovation. Maybe we can get into a tuning war and figure out how to make it happen on the drag strip, vs here on the forums.

I wish you the best also, looking forward to seeing the new innovation you bring forward for the Stinger community!

Yet here you are crying about the price they said they'd sell their data to you for...interesting...

Also interesting how freely you're throwing around those "blackmail" and "extortion" words. Extortion isn't when a company buys something and refuses to sell it to you at the price you're willing to buy it for. That's called capitalism. Do you go to Walmart and dictate to them how much you'll pay for a carton of eggs? Do you claim Walmart is extorting you if they don't agree to sell the eggs to you for a price you agree with? Learn your definitions before you use words you clearly don't understand.

And why would you go into a public forum and confirm to potentially hundreds of people how you've been begging to buy what you believe is information stolen from Kia/Hyundai? I'm pretty sure Corporate/Economic Espionage is illegal where you reside. Maybe you should consider concealing your interest in trying to buy what you believe to be data stolen from a multi-billion dollar company.

After all these years of constantly f*cking up, how are you still making such bassackwards decisions? Most people learn from their mistakes. You're going on a decade of stupid and VERY public decisions and still, you just buckle in and enjoy the ride...

Your brain must made of Jell-O...on the other hand, even with the hundreds of horrible reviews you've received all over the internet you still manage to find a few under a rock residing morons willing to give you their money, so maybe you aren't as stupid as you seem.

Seriously dude, you've long lost the "tuning war." Your first lost to BMS, then to LAP3, and now you're on a public forum begging another competitor for help.

The forum's top 20 drag list is filled with cars that have been tuned by BMS and LAP3, with Lozic residing at the top. While most have gotten faster, the cars that were tuned by you haven't improved in over 2 years. (Sorry @Oglar100, you bet on the wrong horse)

Translation: give me your product for a price I'm willing to pay and I'll use it to prove I'm the better tuner...

That's a brilliant idea!
