Idle stop not operating on new Stinger GT2?

Update: So I have been experimenting with plugging in my phone in different ways. As strange as it seems, the cigarette lighter adapter that came with the iOttie wireless charger mount have caused the ISG to stop working.

I changed out the supplied cigarette lighter charger with another one (that displays current volts and amps), and connected the charger to the USB port with a regular micro USB cable. I also plugged the phone into the USB port via an USB-C cable (for data - Android Auto). With that configuration the ISG worked as it supposed to. It kicked in at a stop; and when the voltage dropped below 12V, the engine starts up.

Anyone have any idea why one adapter would cause a problem and another not? Maybe I'll call iOttie and see what they say.

So I just picked up my Stinger GT2 on Saturday and I've noticed that the Idle Stop light comes on when I stop at lights, but the Idle Stop Off light also comes on and the engine doesn't shut down. (I'm colorblind so I can't tell if the dash light is green or yellow unfortunately.) Does anyone know if that's expected behavior during the break-in period, or if there's something I should be checking to see if it's preventing the system from working? Climate is set to auto so I would assume that isn't it, though since auto turns on a/c maybe it is? The system is enabled--when I'm driving, the idle stop off light isn't illuminated, it just comes on at stoplights. The dash light also doesn't blink like the manual says it would if there's a detected fault.
You're lucky that ISG doesn't work. I hate having to disable ISG every time I drive. Default should be ISG DISABLED. Looking for a permanent disable.

I just posted my experience in another thread. It was working and now it’s not. I get the yellow symbol all the time. I’ve had my iPhone plugged in sometimes and others not and it fails. It’s a very touchy system. Sitting in a parked car and listening to the radio is a no go. I’ve never had a car not do that, and never had a failure because I listened to the radio for awhile, while parked. I do leave a lightning cable plugged in to connect for CarPlay. I’ll remove it to test if it’s shorting the system.

This is my experience - my cell phone charge (iOttie) would wack my ISG - same thing, always yellow. I changed the cigarette adapter to the iOttie and now it works about 80% of the time.

Unplug every add on device - even chargers without phones attached. Some apparently drain even if they don't have a load (not charging).

ISG (Idle Stop and Go) is more of a gimmick to make the car more environmentally "politically correct". I just turn the silly thing off right after I start the engine.
Here is a great discussion of ISG and it's drawbacks:

Shouldn't have to turn the ISG off MANUALLY every time you start the car. The DEFAULT should be with ISG off, which is all of us are used to. The gas savings with ISG engaged is insignificant, but the annoyance of the re-start jolt is significant. Come on Kia, let's have a default-to-normal fix for this annoyance.

Heh! Yes, add that to my list: The Official Stinger Feature Wishlist. You should put your list down there too! :D

You have to apply AMPLE brake pressure. Even then, theres a limit to how long the engine stays off.

The ISG can save between 7-10% in normal city conditions.

Same experience here.... used to work, now it's not, same what others describe. The light on dash comes on, but engine stays on. While, like many of you, prefer this behavior, still bothers me that something is NOT working as it's supposed to. I also leave my iPOD attached all the time.

Disconnect the IPod and everything else, and see if it then works.

But it is "working" as intended, I believe. It's just a fangled thang, so in many conditions off more than on.

I’m having a mixed experience. I got it working again for a day. Then it gets dodgy again. It is what it is.

The ISG on my car works fine with my Samsung Galaxy 8 plugged in and running Android Auto - provided there is sufficient charge in the battery to begin with. If If I'm doing a number of short in-town trips, the charge will eventually drop enough that the feature will disable. As I mentioned in another ISG thread, I bought an inexpensive USB voltage indicator that is great for confirming the current charge state.

Usually one good extended run (say 50km or so) will put it back over the top. ISG will also kick in with A/C running, but it's outside temperature dependent - if it's hot, it won't stop for long before the rising temp causes the car to restart.

The battery and starter are both designed for this - they are much larger and more robust units than normally used for a car of this size and electrical/starting load. It also takes very, very little effort to restart the car once it is warm (which the ISG ensures is the case before becoming active). I think it's a great feature and leave it active all the time - unless I'm doing repeated 1 block stoplight to stoplight driving in downtime traffic with short light timings, or something similar.

But that's just when you want it the most. Irony. Not using gas in stop and go traffic is what the feature is supposed to do.

It may be when you want it the most - I'm interested in having the engine stop when there's a good chance I'm going to be waiting (idling) for a while, not when I am stopped frequently for very short durations. :)

I know, when it works, I’d love to set a delay factor. The way it, when it works, shuts off is very fast. I’d love to tell it delay 5 seconds then shut off. While any delay may not be perfect, I’d like to be stopped a few seconds before it shuts. I find it too quick, when it works.
