Hydrolic Electronic Control Unit Recall

NorCal, I live in the gold country (foothills), closest dealers are Stockton or Sacramento area. In this case, it was Roseville Kia.

Thanks. Just trying to figure out if there are any in the Bay who know what they're doing..

Once I got them to agree to do it, they punched it out in about 90 minutes, so I think the tech part was fine, it was just the service scheduling that failed leading up to it.
So if it is inconvenient to have to go twice and wait each time, sit on the phone and insist that they make sure the parts kit is available first. From what I gather, the kit is only a few dollars, if they end up not needing it, the customer satisfaction far outweighs the kit cost, and they will certainly be able to use the kit eventually.

Thanks. Also trying to decide whether to just wait it out - lease is up in June. Trying to figure out whether to buy out, or share the GTI (paid for) with the wife a bit until we get more back to normal..

Looks like Kia has updated the fuse layout in the upcoming '22 facelift model to mirror what is being done with this recall so hopefully the 2021 models here in NA are the last ones to be impacted by this safety recall.

Thanks to @Blue Bucket for posting the photos of his facelift Stinger.

I had mine done today, I got lucky I was assigned the most meticulous and fussiest mechanic, according to the service manager (and I also know him, he has worked on my car before and I like his attention to detail and just overall a good guy). So far I must say I am impressed, it's like as if he did not even get in my car, there was no trace of him working on my car, except the layout of the fuse box stickers were put on and I know something was done because my C temp unit went to F. I was surprised I have not lost my settings??? Anyone know why?
Anyways, I am relieved it's over, I hope no more surprises... also I did a vehicle diagnostics and all is good with no issues reported by the car.

What's funny is that again, it says for vehicles WITHOUT SCC (Smart Cruise Control). Yet mine HAS SCC and was still under recall. So, the confusion of which cars are eligible grows.

Had mine don't last Friday along with State inspection/emissions. Car was done and ready for pickup in an hour.

Yep. They recalled all the 2019 GT Limited's in Canada, all of which have SCC. Really makes you question if Kia/Hyundai have any idea wtf they're doing.

I haven't had mine done and don't plan to anytime soon.

I had mine done today. Took 1.5 hours although only about an hour of work. Looks clean and no issues.

Got rear ended weeks ago so my car has been in the shop being fixed the past few weeks. Hopefully I get it back this week. Repair shop is also taking the car to the dealership for recall fix within this period. I guess what I’m basically saying is that if you get into a car wreck that isn’t your fault and isn’t major, you too can have your insurance pay a body shop a nice check to be your new concierge (cheap Hyundai rental covered too). That’s all I got; also I keep a fire extinguisher in my car anyways. But I’m sure we’re mostly fine.

Likely but if the lack of SCC is what is creating the over current situation then no point adding new fuses.

I dropped my car at 9am when I had the recall fixed. They called me at 12pm when it was ready. Checked the dash cam and they started working on my car at 10am and probably took them 1 hour or so.

I got my PPI an oil change and the recall work all done within 90 minutes. It was no big deal. I did call ahead and mentioned the VIN when I was waiting for the car to ship and they ordered the part.

Had my recall repair scheduled for this morning. Dealer called just before I started that way and said they did not have the parts. they canceled my appointment. Made the appointment 2 weeks ago. Maybe they are stuck on the container ship in the suez Canal

After some angry emails, I rescheduled for today and they actually went out of their way to take care of my recall. First they were going to do the inspection in 30 mins and have me come back when the part comes in. When it was done I was about to leave when one of the managers told me that they'd get the part from another dealership and put me in a rental. So I got to drive a K5 for a day and by 4pm, they called and said it was done. Garden Grove Kia stepped up and made it right for me. Hopefully everyone else will get taken care of soon.

So I finally was able to drop my Stinger off at the local Rhode Island Kia dealership, after waiting since January trying to schedule the appointment. Numerous calls to schedule through Feb & early March- no calls back. Finally made an apt for Mid march & the day before they called me saying they had to order the recall parts. Parts came in within 5 days, never heard back from the service writer. I went to pickup a couple oil filters & a cabin air filter & they had the part - would not sell to me. Finally able to get the car in today & they call me with a $1300 estimate for tires & an alignment. Hopefully the tech did quality labor - I'll be checking. Very displeased - hopefully there won't ever be a need to bring it to a dealership again.
