How To Adjust Headlight Beam Height

This works even with the auto leveling headlights on the GT2. Dealer told me it would not work when I asked them to borrower a screw driver that was skinny and long enough. They didn't have one that fits in the hole and was long enough. Said they would need to schedule an appointment to have them do it cause they would need to figure out how to do it.

I went on amazon and I found one that fit. Bought it. Waited patiently. Adjusted it. It worked.

Headlights still level automatically. Still at the height I set it to.

Yo nothing goes down hole where gear is. Take out air boxes and nut is under where you see gear. Counter clockwise to raise lights it’s not hard took about 30 minutes. Put tape on wall when dark and when light is about 10 inches above tape your done.

Yes, a screw driver goes down there. and it works. You turn the direction that it shows on top of the gray piece where the hole is. It's marked "U" and "D"

Ok you do hard way. 5 min pop airboxs. Put closed end wrench on and boom your done.

Did this last night using the 12mm nut. I tried with the screw driver initially and no luck. Even went to dealer as they told me it had to be adjusted by module coding. Once in the shop with the foreman, we determined the 12mm nut was the answer. Dealer would not set them higher then the "spec" on his computer which was way to low. FWIW, his "spec" also showed an internal thumbwheel on the panel next to the fuel and rear hatch buttons. Not certain his dealer "spec" is for a US model car. Nonetheless they would not adjust them higher than what was called for...i understand the logic but his spec was causing the beam to terminate approx 70ft in front of the car...unacceptable in my opinion.

Removed the airboxes...2 bolts for the cross bar and three bolts for the airboxes per side. Super easy. Put a ratcheting 12mm on the nut and started away at raising them up. 20 min later...perfect. Not certain CW or CCW for up or down, you can easily see the beam move so if not going the direction you want, turn the other way.

Thanks to all who found the 12mm nut as clearly the dealer had no idea until i brought it up to them based on this post!

Cheers!

is the nut for the tower brace also 12? Of all the pieces in my toolbox, that's the one that's missing. if anyone can confirm, I'll be off to home depot to get one.

You will need a "slim" box end 12mm for the light adjust. I used a ratcheting "stubby"

There was a recall on the hatch?? The sound I seem to hear from ge hatch is actually the removable cover.. I took it off one day and didn’t hear the “rattle” anymore

The latch on hatch loosens over time and it will start bouncing and making noise took mine about three months to loosen up. They say its on cars made from oct to dec of 2017. Mine was oct 17.

Also they gave me a software update for hard down shifts in sport mode.

@Fl stingergt was the harsh downshift for that build period? My downshifts in sport feel almost nonexistent. I may just be used to the sport mode in my previous g37. Now that was a rough downshift prior to the update
