Hi, Just running in my car (500 miles) but I have noticed the central transmission tunnel gets quite hot.
Keys left in the cupholder can get very warm.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it to be expected with RWD?
Cheers,

May I refer you to here?:
Stinger cabin temperature

...there's discussion there about high cabin temperature and maybe this has something to do with that...

Thanks for the link Sal. It could be the same issue. Will check the footwell area tomorrow but this is noticeable on the transmission tunnel.
On the way home my iphone which was on the remote charge pad shut down because it got too hot (not charging though as is not compatible). I think this happens with iPhones at around 30 degrees, cabin temp was at 21 degrees.
Could certainly be caused by poor insulation.

You're the second person to bring up an issue with excessive heat in the cabin - so it's definitely something we all need to be aware of. I bet we'll hear a lot of complaints come Summertime...

I live in the chilly PNW and have yet to experience any cabin heat issues.

Our Australian friends are in the midst of summer... hoping we hear more if others are seeing this.

Ok, got a message back from my dealer, excellent customer service.
They think this is to be expected as the catalytic converters run in the tunnel. I had been giving the car some beans so maybe hard running exacerbates the issue?
They have offered to check the car if it becomes a concern. More to follow I am sure.

My Lexus was like driving a radiator next to my leg .... on very low my drives I could swear my leg had sun burn! :D

True. It'll be hot here on this side of the world in a few months...

Hmm. Well. Hopefully that's the issue. Still, I think you'd have to be driving it pretty darn hard to get an unusual amount of heat inside the car. Time will tell...

Which Lexus was this?

Lexus IS 250 - 2008

I had the same hot temperature on the cup holder and cell phone wireless charging station when I was driving for more than 1hr at 110km/h. I will ask to dealer to check the area under the car.

Wow, I bet this becomes a very serious issue and likely a recall. I mean....NO car should get hot enough to burn someone.

No one has said it’s that level .... just warmer than expected.

I would think all this would have been exposed with all the hard driving (testing/media events) on the Nürburgring. No one likely will drive it as hard as it was driven there...

Welcome aboard, @Andrew! Thank you for signing up! Thank you for letting us know about this! As time rolls on, we hear more and more about this interior heat issue. Just wait until July in the southern United States and Mexico...

Yes - you can't be expected to read every post around here :p but there is one gentleman who's actually been burned... :o

Except here we are discussing this issue. Do you think I am making it up?
Only through real world feedback will these issues be discovered.
Getting out of a car after driving at 100mph for 30 minutes around The Ring in a race suit and wearing a helmet is not testing if your iPhone gets too hot.

I think he's just surprised that we aren't hearing more about this yet...
