High RPMs but barely even moving.

So I drive a 2020 Stinger GT-Line with just over 22k miles and I got it a little over a year ago. I bought it brand new and have had no issues with it until up about 2 weeks ago. I was driving to work and about halfway through I noticed anytime I would try to accelerate it would hit 4000 RPMs and barely move. The engine sounded like it normally would when accelerating, there were warning lights on the dash, and no funky smells or sounds. I eventually got to work and when I was leaving my car was working perfectly. I still brought it to the dealership the next day to be safe and they couldn’t recreate it or find anything that would make that happen. Fast forward to today, on my way to work about halfway through, car’s running fine, I get onto the parkway and try to speed up to match with traffic, my car revs up to 4000 RPMs and I go nowhere. Once again no funky sounds or smells, no check engine lights or any other indicators. I drove a little further down to make sure it was happening again. I shut my car off for 15 minutes and it was back to running how it should after. I know should’ve recorded it this time but I was already running behind so I called the dealership while it was off to schedule an appointment. Which isn’t until next week because apparently their systems are down, so until then I’m reaching out for help on what could’ve cause this for the 2nd time.

Any modifications or are you running a tune? Does it get stuck at 4k rpm and just hang there?

No modifications, everything’s stock. It would shoot you up to 4k and hang around 4500 until I let off the gas

How cold is it? Just this week, on another thread about this "limp mode" thing, someone said that the car is protecting itself; and this happens because of existing conditions and demands that you are placing on the drivetrain. I know that some drivers put their foot down before everything is thoroughly warmed up and think nothing of it. But you were "halfway" into your commute, so that isn't a factor. Still, something can engage limp mode and then go away, related to extreme cold. The warning lights coming on, then not coming on, is really frustrating. You'll never duplicate this in the presence of Kia service people.

Everytime my engine has been warmed up and no warning lights turn on. And yea when I took it in the first time they couldn’t recreate it and didn’t find any trail leading to any problems. It actually happened last night when I was leaving work and this time I was sure to get videos in different drive modes and speeds.

Has MPG gone down as well?

Positive. I even tested all modes as well as manual mode. same issue all around even in Manual
So strange... So weird... So annoying...

Bring to Kia again after a video recording and let us know what happens? Make sure you're documenting everything meticulously.

while I was driving last night the check engine light turned on this time so hopefully that can tell them the issue.
I’m going in on Tuesday and I got my videos & pictures incase my car wants to actually work lol

Ive experienced this kind of thing in cold (under 35° F ) and under heavy load

shot in the dark but when it hits this "4K' threshold, is there any "hesitation" like not getting enough gas? did this start happening after a fill-up?

^ if this is the case and that car sounds like it is shuddering or hiccupping... there could be water in the fuel-tank from faulty gas...

It wasn’t happened after fill ups but I got my car scanned yesterday and it came back with a P0088 error code. Which means the sensors are reading a High fuel pressure. Now I just have to figure out if there’s an issue with the fuel lines or the sensor.

Was it scanned at a dealer? could have several causes but it sounds like a trip to the dealer to have it properly diagnosed.
