Has anyone seen any Stingers in the wild?

So basically. if you sit in a car, you cant use your phone (driving or RIDING).
sorry lads, give me ya'll phones, its dangerous to ride a car and use the phone!
Yes, in our State the only time it can be used is for GPS if it’s in a cradle, or for making/receiving calls via the in car hands free (Bluetooth/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) otherwise it’s an offence to use it unless you’re stopped on the side of the road. Still amazes me the amount of people who put the phone on loud speaker (phone not car) and hold it in one hand and claim that’s hands free. They wonder why there’s so many crashes involving distracted drivers

4.40pm today Waterloo rd, Macquarie Park opposite the railway station. Aurora Black Gt with 2 Stinger scripts one large one small.... not to my taste.View attachment 29009
Can’t say I’m a fan of the double Stinger badges. Do you think the guy in the BMW was looking at the Stinger and thinking to himself “I could’ve saved $20,000 and got a better car” :D

Sorry, your defence is floored...:p

NANNY STATE!!!!!!!!!!!
Ticket is in the mail :p
Lucky for you @Stinger GT SS is only the forum police, the real ones might not be so forgiving

Also if you get pulled over try and use the Merlin defence. “I’m sorry Officer I’m on a Stinger forum where we report sightings of Stingers in the wild, but this guy @MerlintheMad won’t believe us unless we post a picture, so I had no choice but to use my phone.” See if that works :p :D
And I'd like to know how a digital camera or cellphone camera are any different. When was it made illegal to watch the road through a camera lens? You're WATCHING THE DAMNED ROAD!

So the problem with text is it’s hard to tell sometimes if you’re being serious or sarcastic, I’m hoping in this case your tongue is in your cheek. But to answer your question the difference would be technically holding a camera while driving in our State would not be illegal in itself, however if you crashed while doing it, you’d be charged with Negligent Driving as holding the camera would mean you don’t have full and proper control of your vehicle, so you’re negligent. As for a mobile phones, they have been illegal to use for years here however over the years the Government has continued to tighten the law around it to the point that it’s basically illegal to even touch the phone while driving. Every State in Australia has a version of the same legislation. The logic behind it is that distracted drivers have been found to be one of the major contributing factors to the cause of accidents along with fatigue, speed, drink/drug driving so it was done in an effort to reduce the road toll. As for the difference of watching the road between looking through a tiny camera lens or the full unobstructed use of the human eyeball, hopefully that’s just self explanatory.

Anyway this thread is now getting a bit off topic so I’ll leave it there.

Hi, @Coast GT. Not tongue in cheek at all. "Nanny State" is an accusation. But don't take it personally. I just loathe Gov't oversight on the minutia of daily living.

I can accept that holding a camera is not illegal per se, but if in an accident you get that fact used against you: that is reasonable! "A man's got to know his limitations, yes sir." (Harry Callahan) But, there is no "look through a tiny camera lens" about it. You have full peripheral vision when you hold a camera out at arm's length and view the screen. So the law is perverse: it doesn't make looking through a camera viewer (eye hole) illegal: but it does holding a cellphone AS a camera? Makes no sense whatsoever.

The image just isn't wide enough to see the fake vents I think. They're pretty far apart and high up the hood.

Five then? Your hood has no faux vents for some cool reason? The wiper arms are sure buried like on a Stinger.
5 w/ reflections is correct. To her credit, @Luminary had it right except I hadn't stated I was counting reflections.

I do have fake hood vents, they're just cropped out of the photo.

Is three actual (non-reflection) Stingers out on the road in one photo a first for this thread? I'm lucky to see one nevermind two that aren't parked and capture both in a single photo.

You sneaky! I was right about "trick question", just not the reason why.

Maybe something positive for a change ?
Anything about speeding or crossing double lines or what failure to indicate:whistle:
Oh that’s an easy fix...

Not taking it personal mate, nanny state is something that’s thrown around here too. I tend to agree we can be way over governed at times, but sadly they have to account for the lowest common denominator and generally speaking people are stupid so the rest of us that can exercise common sense have to suffer the over governing to protect the stupid from themselves.

NANNY STATE!!!!!!!!!!!

You say that, but holy hell have I seen some absolutely terrible driving as a result of people using their phones when they're meant to be driving. Just look at the dashcam vids that get shared on here to see what I mean. I see people drivinf like muppets all the time with their phones in their hands - nearly causing accidents, swerving in and out of their lanes at 100km/h, etc. And those videos don't show the fatalities...

And I'd like to know how a digital camera or cellphone camera are any different. When was it made illegal to watch the road through a camera lens? You're WATCHING THE DAMNED ROAD!

The issue is that your hands are not controlling the vehicle, and that if you're focused on taking photos/videos, you're not focused on driving.

I get that when stopped in traffic the concern is lessened, I suspect the issue though is that enforcement becomes difficult if you give people an "out". Plus the delays to traffic flow, etc caused by people not realising traffic is moving again.

Does it suck that we have this restriction? Yes. Can I understand it, given what I see on the roads? Absolutely.

To be honest, i think we should move on from the legality issues and get back on topic please.

Yeah, let’s all be positive for a change.
