Has anyone seen any Stingers in the wild?

I have an intellectual question for everyone on this topic: If we are meeting owners and taking names, etc., are these Stingers "in the wild" anymore? ;) Now we are encountering fellow Stinger owners and chatting each other up. At some point, there will be enough opportunities to do this and we won't bother anymore. The father of the Stinger owner I saw in Bountiful said that back in the day when the PT Cruiser first came out, the same phenomenon occurred for a while: PTs would pause in parking lots and get acquainted, and now Stinger people are doing the same thing.

Maybe a good threshold will be when we see a Stinger a month. Or should we consider one a week sufficient to say that there are no longer any "wild" Stingers, only "domesticated" ones; now all of us just part of the "herd". :P

I saw a black one yesterday in New Smyrna Florida..of course I was in the Sorento. I still haven't seen one while in my Stinger..lol

One a month is too low to trigger a moratorium, since I've seen 11 truly in the wild (and 6 more at Kia corporate in Irvine) since January. How about we stop reporting them when we're no longer breaking into silly grins whenever we see one? And if you plan to meet up with other owners (like my 6 in Irvine), those don't count, nor do any that you know you've seen before. :geek:

That's a good gauge. And it might be a while yet. :D

I think the "winners" should be the Stinger owners who see the fewest other Stingers, because look how incredibly rare their car is in their area! Either that or they might be hermits who just never leave the house? I have two Kia dealerships within ten minutes of my house and I've only seen two Stingers in the wild, I'm sure it has something to do with my normal three-mile commute though.

Yay! I win! I go through a tank of gas every week. And I am always looking. Two genuine "sightings" in six months (both within the last two weeks). Who has seen fewer Stingers than I have while living in a metro area of over one million people?

Agreed! It's just too easy to see a Stinger in places like Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Which brings up something I've been wondering. Are there sales figures for Stingers by state or county? I can't find any (admittedly, haven't looked very hard), but have to think that there are a lot of regions, like Southern California, where they're more common, and not just because of population density.

Saw another black one yesterday getting off I-95 at Garden City Georgia..he was having fun with a Charger nd I was trying to get out of the way in the Sorento...lol

I just saw the base GT yellow AWD Stinger in Rockville, MD that I know came from Herson's Kia. It didn't have temporary tags on it but it did have a UPC symbol in the window so I'm not sure if someone actually bought it or the manager is still driving it around as his personal vehicle.

I think I take the cake here. I’ve only seen 2 stingers in all of Miami. I’m driving 5 days a week between Miami Beach all the way down to Cutler bay back and forth... always on the hunt, And nothing! Btw MICRO BLUE on old cutler road... I’ve seen you twice... are you on the forum?? Lol

I moved from a small town of about 50k people, and one ratty little dealership, and I saw 4 Stingers between February and July.

In July I moved to a large city, with a metro area population of over 3 million, 4 dealerships in a 18 mile radius (one of the dealerships has 26 Stingers on the lot), and I commute 45 miles a day right through the heart of two large cities, and I've seen ZERO Stingers since living here.

I'm smitten with how rare my car is.

Yeah I feel like this is the best kept secret or something! I really want to get one before everyone jumps on the bandwagon!
Still undecided between snagging a 2018 for a great deal, TOMORROW, or wait for 2019s. o_O

Saw a ceramic on Hamilton Mason road last night..of course I was in the Sorento...lol

Saw my first Black Stinger in the wild today. Cnr Staion st & Henry st Penrith at 1.30pm BLC... plate. Many white Stingers out here, few red and blue. Only seem to see the Stinger in the home town but next to none on my 108km round trip commute.

Saw a micro blue Stinger a few days ago, but I think it's the same one I saw 2 months ago ... lol!

Saw a white Stinger about a week or two ago while I was on the Belt Parkway. He merged into the parkway and was right behind me. Was going to say Hi but I needed to be somewhere that day. He had both badges changed too!

I seen a black 2.0 at Bowlero last Friday. I believe it is the same one I saw a week ago on Northern Boulevard. This is the only stinger I have seen on the road.
