My name is Melvin.
I just became a stinger owner. I got a 2022 awd scorpion.
I subscribed to this site because I have found very valuable information from you guys so far.
I am planning on addind a jb4, w
injen intakes,
hks, bov and addw1 doubled catcan setup. Can anyone give me some feedback. Or suggestions if I am headed in the right direction
Welcome Melvin and congrats. You made a great choice.
Regarding your mod plans, my suggestion is this: don't rush into things and focus on protection/health first. Drive and enjoy the car for a while. Learn its capabilities and make sure it's all working 100%. If you still feel you want something more at that time, then look carefully at performance
mods and don't be seduced by numbers or keeping up with others.
Personally, I think a
dash cam is essential and would start there. I personally bring a cheap one even when I rent a car.
Then, assuming you're planning to keep the car for a while and everything checks out, first look at paint protection/correction/coating, fender vent screens, tint, mud flaps, floor/trunk liners, phone mount solutions if that's your thing. This would be a good time to install catch cans if you are committed to them. Just be ready to maintain them, and IMO, focus on ones that don't negatively impact the car's PCV and CCV systems to relieve pressure rather than how much fluid it captures, and definitely not based on how cool it looks. If this is a long term car, you will be glad you did these things first.
Once that's all taken care of, if you want more sound, performance, etc. then you can explore those other options. It is generally much more satisfying to spend good money on performance
mods when you are familiar enough with the car to notice what the mod is adding to the experience. On the flip side, if you modify a car before knowing how it behaves when stock, it can make for frustrating experience if there is a problem down the road.
On your list, it goes without saying the JB4 (or similar piggy back tune) will be the most impactful, but that doesn't make it necessary. If you aren't mechanically inclined, realize that you may be making repeated trips to the shop if you encounter problems with say,
spark plugs. Not everyone has a set-and-forget experience with these.
Again, don't worry about keeping up with what others are doing--it becomes an endless cycle.
I once read something that stuck with me: if you can't afford to repair the car out of warranty, be very wary of modifying.
Hope this helps. Enjoy and stay safe.
