First US Stinger TV Advertisement (teaser)

They also May sway some people that can only afford to lease a BMW into owning a Kia

..........................or instead of a stripped down 4 cylinder BMW 5 series they get a loaded V6 Kia Cadenza , from a badging perspective they could debadge the Kia with several options and nobody would know ........................

just checked : BMW 530 Xdrive starting price is $18K more than a loaded Cadenza , to option it up to the same level as the Cadenza add another $18 K ..............

It's really a heck of a car for $45k... I just did a quick build...

A lot of people are beginning to realize that great products are coming out of South Korea. The Genesis Sedan, G80 and G90 have surprised a lot of people. The Stinger is going to do what the Genesis Coupe could not successfully do - and that's attract the enthusiast crowd and hold their interest...

15-20 years ago, Samsung and LG used to be the brands people did not trust. Now they are one of the world’s most respected brands. LG’s wall paper OLED tv was a big hit at the CES this year. iPhone screens are made by Samsung. What I would really like to see is Hyundai/Kia start putting those awesome tech in their cars. Like a virtual cockpit with which Audi has been entertaining buyers for a couple years now. Or a paper thin/foldable infotainment screen that can somehow disappear when you want to. Or OLED taillights that can be more dynamic than current static taillights. They would really benefit each other huge if they do that. Plus I’m sure they can power buy at better deals since the logistics are local. If Hyundai/Kia really want to have competitive edge over the German or Japanese brands they can perhaps outdo them by pushing the tech like what Samsung and LG have done.

If Kia put the Stinger in that Cadenza ad , something is up ....................Biermann was not hired away from the M Division at BMW to only build the Stinger and set up N over at Hyundai , they will put his DNA across the upper end of the portfolio . Kia are sticking their chin out on this but nobody is arguing that they didnt get it right on the Stinger , go boys go !!

That's a great idea to use some of South Korea's high tech ingredients in their own cars - to be more competitive. Who'd get a better deal on this stuff than Hyundai or Kia? I wonder why this hasn't already been done...

Hmm... So you think the Cadenza might benefit from a performance edge as well? I've heard the second generation K900 is going to be more like the 5-Series than the 7-Series this time around. I envision a sedan sized in-between the 5 and 7, rear wheel drive with twin turbo V6 power...

The whole sedan market is shrinking , the 7 Series , S class and A8 segment is pretty small and Genesis is positioned to cover so I'm betting we will see a Sport / GT version of the Cadenza positioned for enthusiasts going after the 5 series , E Class and A5 which is significantly larger . But the sedans drive imagery for the Germans and their SUV's benefit and sell like crazy . I think the real sweet spot that Kia is missing is a sport tuned SUV . This is where all the growth is , they will likely get Biermann working on the Sportage , Sorento then launch the Telluride to round out their portfolio . Those 2 ads ( Sorento and Cadenza ) clearly signal their thinking ......................

Very true and I wish it weren't. I prefer sedans. I'm a luxury car kind of guy and you can't get the same experience in a CUV or SUV. MAYBE in a Lexus LX570. Maybe... I don't think the Cadenza is going to go rear wheel drive so I'm not sure how well it's going to compete with cars like the 5-Series and E-Class. And if I'm not mistaken and the K900 comes back smaller, it might very well take on this segment. Either way, it sounds like Kia has a very interesting future in store for us. :)

I agree that Kia needs a good competitive CUV/SUV and that's why I originally made the abomination below. I did it with a really crappy computer and monitor but I'm not artist so even on a great system it probably wouldn't have come out much better...

Just what we need, an even HEAVIER version of the Stinger ;)

The GM at my local dealership said KMA green lighted Telluride and it's supposed to be announced/released in mid 2018. But it might take about a year after the announcement before the sales will launch. Since Hyundai/Genesis adopted the "N" brand for their cars I wonder what performance division name for Kia would be.

I think the Sorento looks fine ( no offence , hahahaha ) but it could benefit from some tinkering by Biermann , if they offered a true GT version for $3-5 K more you'ld have a really tough time justifying buying an X5 , Q5 , etc

Nothing in the pipeline for Kia when it comes to the new "performance" SUV category. At least nothing that has been made pubic. But given where the market is trending that direction makes good business sense.

And on that note....there is confirmation that Biermann's new N division is working on an SUV. It appears the Hyundai Tucson will be the first SUV to get the N badge.

"If you look at the Tucson today it is very relaxed, very comfortable to drive, but to have an N version requires a lot of power, nice transmission, nice handling, sportier tyres and lowered body," - Biermann

I read that earlier , goods news , if he rebuilds the Tucson then it makes sense this would/could transfer to the Sportage ? He'll be a busy guy ..............

Actually, I don't agree with your opinion on the SUV you "clobbered" together; it doesn't look worse or better than any of the other available small SUVs currently available. It could be a Mazda.:)
But it does not stir the soul so to speak.
