FINALLY GOT THE GT-2 STINGER

Nice job @kevin, loving that colour too....

I am not sure if the Module will work on the 2.0 Stinger? Please private message me, and I will speak to Lap3 about it.

Not for me, I have a gt1 but for any of the 2.0 members.

Gotcha. I will have to check with Lap3
What percent tint do you have on that thing ? Also make sure you get new plugs if you get a lap3 for the stinger

Welcome Kevin! No one is bringing “it” up but blue is a paint challanged color. Dare I say, don’t cover it yet. Open a claim immediately with Kia via the Stinger 800 number. They’ll tell you what to do. Do that before investing in any paint protection.
Can you do that even if there is no paint chip yet?

No chipping means no problem for Kia to address. Other than the Sunset Yellow, they are handling all paint issues on a case by case basis, not covering any other colors en masse like the Yellow; and no compensation either; just the warranty. If you don't have chipping be glad. And protect your car.

Hey guys and gals ... I noticed another paint chip on the driver side fender just a few moments ago, so I am taking the advice of forum members. I started a detailed photo log album and also contacted Kia Corporate and got a case number. I expressed to the KIA rep, I don’t want some immature little sloppy person driving my car doing Tire burn outs and joy riding In it!!! My main concerns are I don’t want some large fat person sitting in my nice Nappa Leather Seats creating creases in my seats and driving my car up and down the roads! I am extremely OCD when it comes to my vehicles, heck... I still have all the plastic on the carpet. ...... until weathertech mats arrive. Any ways .. enough of the rant, let me just say this... I STILL love this car!!!!! I am sure KIA is gonna rectify this and who knows????? Maybe I can suggest to them a free 3M kit on the front of car for compensation for having to deal with this after spending over 50K!! I will keep everyone posted on the details. I am gonna enclose some photos of the issue. They are taken with IPhone X. Driver side fender, Hood, and front clip above Radar for adaptive Cruise sensor

Thanks for the nice comments. I really just love love love driving this car!!! Also wanted to inform people of the Amazing LED adaptive headlights!! I am not sure on this, but I would say .. they have to be some of the most incredible headlights that I have ever driven with!! I believe they are probably some of the best headlights available I mean, these things light the road up for days. Lol. The adaptive led system comes on the GT-2 trim...and in regards to the paint.... if it gets worse, I know Kia Corporate will take care of me!! I have no doubt at all!! They have been good to me, and this is my second Kia. I love the company’s passion to succeed and develop amazing cars!

Hey guys, i was just going to add to my prior post in regards to the chipping,....i haven't seen any more, and i did check when car was made...door hinge says 12/17 manufacture date... don't know if this has any bearing on the paint issues? Also wanted to let you know, the pictures were taken under some magnification on the camera setting..i had trouble locating the one chip on the driver side fender because it's so small..i would say its less then 1 millimeter in diameter.

It does indeed. 11/17 and 12/17 are, far and away, the two most represented months with paint issues.

But again, it is nothing like even half of the cars from that period, not even with the Yellow. I can't make even a rough guess at the fraction of cars that have paint issues. But my instincts tell me it is less than one in ten out of the total cars sold worldwide. And Nov/Dec 2017 might be half or more of the total? I don't think that the information is available to make a solid case for or against that guess. Obviously the failed paint cases exist as an empirical number; but who can come up with it besides Kia? And even they only have the reported cases, not the ones that are so small, as of yet, to even be noticed by their owners; or even those that are considered by their owners to be some kind of road damage, i.e. they haven't even heard of this issue with some cars having failing paint.

Uh Oh, I just bought a micro blue GT2 AWD - what problems are there with the paint? Scheduled for a sapphire ceramic coating on Aug. 24.

None at all, on probably 90% plus of them. I think that there is probably less than 2% of all other colors than Yellow that have flaking/chipping paint. If you don't already have a chipping of paint under the forward lower corners of the headlight assembly; if you don't see any teensy (pinpoint) flaws anywhere; if any stones hitting your front bumper only produce the smallest of nicks, and do not create a flake or chip, if other areas of the paint far away from frontal impact areas are pristine, then your car is fine. Coat it! Put PPF on it! If, by chance, later (within the 36 months/36K miles paint warranty - page 8 in the owner's Warranty and Consumer Information Manual) you find some issue with your paint, Kia will cover it without cost to you.

If after all that inspecting, you suspect that you've got an unlucky Blue, do as advised and contact Kia right away, and postpone your ceramic or PPF until you've got a paint job that is worthy of protection. Good Luck!
