EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

yea it looks much better. seems to be making progress

I went to a meet last night with a lot of tuners and they were happy to have a look at all the logs but they did also say they don’t know enough about the stinger to pinpoint the exact issues. They asked how many tanks of fuel across the 4 revisions and I told them only 1 tank of fuel so same fuel mix across them all.

They suggested the tune may be a generic tune and they only make minor adjustments each revision Targeting boost and so on but looks like the changes/revisions are not targeting my current setup and fuel mix regarding timing and so on. They did find the low timing odd bit once again said they don’t know enough about the car.

Woke up this morning and had a response from Ryan regarding the timing issues and he said the timing is not good against the 98RON + E30. I assume he is saying the low timing is being caused by my fuel? Is Ryan suggesting all along fuel has been the issue. If this is the case I have been going about this all wrong. I thought the revisions/Logs were for adjustments to match my mods and fuel mix? My fuel mix was mixed at E40 on his tank.

A stab in the dark……. I assume from this information I need to change my fuel mix/setup to match the Tune and this is the standard operation they supply. If so that’s fine I now know better.

My curiosity is getting the better of me wondering if I should up the E mix or octane. Maybe I need to give up on this, wait for the JB4 and other mods then reassess my options, I will also know my exact E mix with the fuel-it kit.

And the adventure continues. Slowly learning more. Thanks again for all your help.

I run a BEF from BMS and switch maps to suit the fuel. On track nights I go E30 because E85 is available near the track. However for daily driving I don’t have ready access to it so only 91.
I feel it takes a while for the ECU to adapt to E30 after being on straight pump gas for a while.

Good to know, I think the BEF is a great option with the flexibility. I have all my parts ordered JB4, Fuel wires, EWG add on, BMS intercooler, BMS CPI with fuel it kit, Mishimoto oil catch can and BMS diff brace.

Anyone know how long it takes for BMS to load up a BEF for a New ID. May preorder it so it’s ready for the install.

Well e40 is pretty much maxed out without upgraded hpfp or cpi.. so theres really no adjustment needed on your end. Bmws, audis, mustangs all have the ability to adjust when say running e85 then next tank if i put i. Straight 93 the tune will automatically adjust for said fuel… our ecu does not have the capability! Just tell him what you want since your getting cpi just ask for a 19 or 18 psi flat boost and 19 or 18 deg timing whatever you feel more comfortable running

Terry had my BEF in about 30 minutes. Not sure if the cal ID was new or not.

Update, Ryan said by the logs the ignition pattern looks like 94RON or lower.

Seems my fuel may be the issue.

You could try a diff gas station… but i call bs…your timing shouldnt look like that regardless of octane

Good point, looks like the fuel-it kit will be here this Wednesday. I will connect it up and check the E content currently in the tank.

The gas station is reasonably new I checked with a few people today running E85 from the same place and they all said they have had no issues or know of anyone having issues with it.

One has a Holden V8, couple of ford Barra turbo 6 and one BMW M4 all using E85 and 98 besides one Barra running E10 and adding E85 on top of that. They are all tuned for an E mix, fill at the same place I am. 1 more friend I am sure fills there as well with a GTR R35 though I cannot get hold of him.

Think I am at the end of the road with this Tune, best to take my loses, move on to the BEF and start again.

All my BMS equipment has arrived. Installed the FMIC, CPI and fuel it kit. Today I will start on the JB4/ fuel wires, EWG and FSB controller along with the Mishimoto catch can

The Australian Stinger is a little different in the front end compared to the US version so had to alter the FMIC install.

Due to being right hand drive I had to ask Terry about the JB4 install seeing as the instructions say drivers and passenger side. The fuse box is on the opposite side to the US, Terry said if I run the JB4 on the fuse box side I will have to extend the short fuel wire and the EWG wires are interchangeable.

Waiting for a BEF from Terry. Will post up my current E content once I have it all installed and figure out all the JB4 settings.

Please for the love of god do not get the e85 bef thats 22deg of timing… ask for the 19 deg bef…22deg is too aggressive… you should be able to run full e85 or close to it with cpi and the bef

No problem, I gather the 22deg is too much stress on everything? At what HP/boost do you need to consider the head bolts/studs. I would prefer to stay away from that for now. Maybe in 12 months I may consider it.

With my setup what ball park power would I be looking at with the 19deg BEF? I also signed up to all the HP academy courses. I am in no way interested trying to tune myself just trying to get a better understanding of how it works and understand the lingo.

Just depends what kind of boost you run as you control boost with a bef… do a log using the jb4 on the sxth stage 2 and send me it

I have emailed Terry to check all my JB4 settings, want to make sure its all setup with the correct settings before I take it for a run. See attached PDF.

So I finally got to see the E content I was running on the Sxth tune. E32 on the fuel it app (see in PDF), not quiet E40 but not to far off. I am honestly a little hesitant to run the Sxth Stage 2 again or even the Stage 1 as we were seeing similar issues with that as well.

If i got a EK1 and wanted a tune. Would i just buy a BEF for cheaper since i have a JB4 already or would i get a full $450 tune? Looking for a Tune for my G70 w/ Intakes, Catless secondaries, intercooler and access to e85.

Not sure, I have the Sxth Stage 2 tune and just got another revision 1.05 which seems to be a lot better. I also have the BEF from Terry though I have not tested it yet. I would be keen to also hear others thoughts on this.

Latest Stage 2 revision Log attached, this tune was loaded and first drive with it.

You can show us your fastest E30 mix log first. Like what boost are you able to run safe with stock timing. Generally speaking there's meaningless to get BEF unless CPI/WMI is installed. But for some certain states gasoline is just simply superior so you'd better make sure there's room left for adding more timing.

Pulled the trigger on a EK1 Pro. Will probably be getting the BEF file in a couple weeks. Here’s a log of 0-116 pull. Cyl 3 & 4 are grumpy, plugs are fine. E20 and decently High IAT(100+)

20’ G70 AWD 3.3T.
