Doug is selling the Stinger

I just saw his latest video, he replaced it with a new Land Rover Defender. As the video has nothing else to do with the Stinger I won't bother posting it. He will however, have a follow-up on his ownership experience on his second channel if anyone is interested.

Honestly I was pretty disappointed with the way he bashed his Stinger for being a 2018 in 2020, and pretty much discounted all the good things he had said about it. He never really said much about it after he bought it either so no big loss IMO.

EDIT: If you want to buy his Stinger and bring it to a good home it's also apparently for sale on his car bidding site.

Doug was more entertaining with his car choices/antics rather than a serious enthusiast IMO. He did quirky things like drive a used ferrari and H1 hummer around PHL so he had things to write about.

Sad to hear that. He didn't keep it very long. Not surprised he bought a new Defender to go with his old one. He does like those types of cars having a G series AMG too. I will keep a look out for his latest videos on his experience with the Stinger. I have pretty much watched all of his videos now. I am a big fan of Doug and his quirks. Thanks for the update.

I guess he's more of a high tech guy and that's why he kept bringing up 2017 tech not being up to speed in 2020. I still feel like I'm driving a plane without wings (haven't even updated my NAV yet, heh).

In the end he added a bunch of hype around the stinger and keeping it for a year as he expected because he was going to get something else so we all knew this was coming.

To be fair, $52k 2018 Stingers in the U.S. were missing tech that was available on $35k 2016 Optimas. Kia just dropped the ball when they rolled out the first MY to the U.S. market.

Also, I don't know what but something about Doug's Stinger makes it look older than it is. Maybe I'm just accustomed to seeing modded Stingers so stock cars are showing their age...

The rear badging ages it for some reason ha ha, I've thought that as well.

I can't imagine dumping the Stinger because of the brand name, and jumping from that into a Land Rover, which has about the same reliability as Chrysler, or heck, early-to-mid '80s Jaguar and Lotus. I look at Land Rovers and my reaction is "SUCKER!" because their reliability is total crap.

Also.. he isn't wrong about the Stinger. Unless you live in Korea, a 2021 Stinger may as well be a 2018 Stinger. Kia have stagnated since they released the car, while addressing none of the complaints that potential buyers have made about it. I'm still in a holding pattern, torn between several options:

1. Jumping into an S4 Prestige (and hating that I can't get the high end seats both ventilated and heated)
2. Jumping into a BMW 3 series now that they support Android Auto
3. Continuing to wait for the Stinger refresh to hit the states, where it may or may not be gimped with dealbreakers... again
4. Continue to keep the crapbox Saab going and just dump my liquid cash into the market (which honestly is the most fiscally responsible thing to do) and saying "f--- the crapbox US-market Stinger"

He said when he bought the Stinger it was only temporary, for one year and he stuck to that.
