3.3TT DIY intakes w/Heat shielding drop about 0.2sec off 0-60

Nice job and thanks for sharing..

Don't lose any sleep over the shielding being designed for radiant vs conductive - the fact is you've built a somewhat isolated "box" to prevent most of the heated air around the hottest parts of the engine being drawn directly into the inlet. Even a few degrees will increase density (and therefore power) by a measurable amount.

It’s actually not difficult. Just takes some patience and a few basic tools. After a little practice I can switch out everything for both intakes in about an hour.:D

I can try to make a simple step by step guide later if that would help.

Thanks again for the compliments and let me know if you have any more questions.

If you made a step by step i would send you nothing but good juju lol. My brother in law just bought a Panthera Metal Stinger GT and does not have funds for a K&N system. I have the Ceramic Silver GT, but i put a K&N system on it. If you have time or whenever you have time, i would love a step by step

Did this mod a few weeks back and it was super easy. Took me about 30 mins to get it done. I went with 90-degree pipes to angle the filters forward, mainly for looks. I might try doing some kind of heat shielding in the future but I'm not too worried about it right now. Loving being able to hear the turbos spool up!

More info please....where did you get the tubing?? any brackets looks good bro

Got all the parts at Autozone. They have 4 different colors of filters if you don’t like the blue. I haven’t done any brackets yet because it seems to be pretty secure. The pipes are 3” and fit right into the stock tubing with the stock clamps.

@Angel yeah it’s the 3” 90-degree spectre elbows and filters #8136. Total was about $100.

@patrick32005 there might be a slight difference in power but doing just intakes won’t make a huge difference. On the flip side though, it really opens up the sound of the turbos, which makes the car seem faster :p

do you have the part numbers for the elbow??? or link please....also can you please post a video of just the sound bro pleaseee....

The elbow is #86981. I can get a video once I get my car back from the body shop, getting a dent repaired

You could get stuff to make brackets but I just got the elbows and filters. I angled it so that they don’t move around. The filters come with clamps and you can use the stock clamp for the other side of the elbow. The hardest thing was getting the filters onto the elbows.

Thank you, and as they say “sharing is caring!”;)

Lol I’m not and yes that was my intention, to make as much of a sealed box as possible. The air temp surrounding the filters is now much lower than the hot air radiating from the engine & turbos. And I agree 100%, the cooler air makes a noticeable difference in power and was worth every penny!:D

Thanks again and take care.

I’ll try to work on it today or over the weekend.

Looks great and glad to have another DIY enjoying the benefits of this easy mod!

Your right and prob not huge improvement, but try a rollout and then a quick drop to 3/4 throttle once you hit 2nd. I swear sometimes it feels like a huge difference! Surprisingly it’s more noticeable at part throttle than full, but either way it definitely helps if it can drop 0.1-0.2 off 0-60 times!:D
