Hello Can everyone please share your experiences visiting the dealer with mods...Do you take them off? will the dealer flag your car? I am going in for recall visit...Should i take mods off...Will muffler deletes be an issues... please share all experiences and knowledge, thanks

That all depends on the dealer.

In my case, my dealer doesn't care. They actually have complimented me on the mods I've done.

Also my car has been to the dealer more than three times, for different reasons.

Ever heard/read about Magnuson Moss Warranty Act?

I have but its BS....I called 4 different dealers in my area today and asked them what would happen if i brought the car in with some mods...They can flag the car in the system with the mods and next time you come in they will F you over....That Act does not work the dealer will deby warranty and there is really nothing you can do about it lol

So pretty much intakes, intercooler , bov or anything related if you get anything wrong in your engine they will tie that mods to the damage and there is nothing you can do about it...Now it is all dependent on the Tech that woks on your car if he reports it ...so this may vary from dealer to dealer...but they all pretty much not to mod your car

I have intakes, intercooler, catback exhaust, catch cans, jb4.

yep, 100% sure it is not flag as the work they have performed so far, has been covered by the warranty.

It helps to have a good relationship with the staff ;)

They did, the radio replacement, diff fluid replacement, front brake disks, and a boost sensor replacement.

I just spended 3 hours putting my car back to stock...all i have on now is downpipes and muffler deletes...i wonder if that will cause an issue

Wow i am speechless....just curious why were the rotors replaced and the diff fluid?

Disks were resurfaced due to warping, diff fluid was replaced due to sound coming from the diff when making a hard turn at low speeds (there is a TSB for that)

ok thanks...so i hope they dont say anything about the down pipes... i will probably remove the muffler deletes to be safe

Any claim for warranty on parts/components that you have modified would have to be accessed & proven by the dealer as the modification being the cause of the failure. This does not mean your whole car warranty is void if for example you fitted aftermarket swaybars & your transmission was leaking they would have to still fix the leak under warranty.

Agree with you....But i was talking to service advisor about the intercooler, intakes and BOV, and downpipes. They told me that if anything happen to the turbos or engine they would tie those mods to the damage.....

I asked my dealer before I started modifying my Stinger about warranty. What they told me was, everything should ok unless the mod creates a problem. My dealer also has a modded Stinger that they modify for sale.

I dropped my plan to do catch can for the same reason. And now dropping plan to do exhaust as well. Will do sways though.

That’s the thing they determine if the mods does the problem ... I assume any engine mod like intercooler , intake or BOV they will tie to engine damage that is what I was told .... so pretty much they screw you over

Took mine in for the recall. Took the JB4 off just in case but left intakes and catch cans. They didn’t say anything to me about it.

They have a Stinger in the show room with with $10000 worth of mods sitting in the show room that comes with warrranty. If you think something is going to cause major problems, don’t do it.

Good To know...I took everything off my car except the down pipes and muffler deletes...

A cat back exhaust should be no problem as you would have maintained all factory cats & sensors etc. they would still need to prove in writing by an independant automotive engineer that this caused issues to void warranty.
I did this on a previous car I owned, the front Suspension Strut bushes/thrust bearings had failed after 40,000kms. The suspension company that was fitting my lowering springs at the time changed them out for me. I took the receipt & failed bushes to my dealer for a refund, they initially refused until I demanded a written engineers report of why they failed, guess what full refund for the bushes & they also kept the failed ones...I’ll call them on these things every time as I usually have any mods done by reputable companies or even better the dealer themselves.

Still, don't want to risk power train warranty for now.
