Coolant smell?

OEM doesnt ship washer fluid, the dealer puts it in at pre-delivery inspection... at least this is what my dealer told me.

I specifically asked if it shipped with washer fluid, or if they put it in, this was their response;

I wanted more because it smells fantastic. Unfortunately they get it from a bulk company in Ontario that doesn't sell to consumers. Anyone wanna group buy 4000L of washer fluid?

you'd be surprised at what that much of a powder dissolved in a gallon of water can turn into.

Can we get back to coolant smell? I've had it 11,000 miles now. Dealer didn't find anything wrong either. My G80 with the 3.8 didn't have this issue.

Talked with parts from the dealership I got the car from. At first he was certain it took the green and gave me a part number. About 5 minutes later he calls back says he was wrong. There's a bulletin about cars after 7/2020 taking the pink stuff.

UM020CH263 ~$15, premixed 50/50

Apparently this stuff varies in price significantly. Some charging list ($15), other charging upwards of 2x list ($30). Incredible!

Today: 2300 miles, also cold. ~1/2" below full mark.

Took a little over 100ml to bring it back to full, ~3.5 floz.

Probably not a good idea to let it get below the L mark. This user on the K5 forum was getting gurgling sounds (air in the system). Gurgling noises and coolant smell.

Forget the smell. But does anyone know what are the specifications for the coolant type? The pre 2020 have green coolant. However the manual doesn't mention specification nor does Kia sell the OEM green any more now that they've apparently switched to the new pink/red coolant.

I’m getting the smell in my vents on my GTS. Not always but if it sits, assuming this is normal? Never had a car that did that unless the heater code was shot.

^^While I get the odor outside after parking/driving the car, I never got it inside the car. I suppose if I were to leave shortly after parking it (in the garage), with the recirculate set to fresh air, I might get an odor inside.

When are you getting it in the vents?

It light just be washer fluid smell coming through the vents. Try changing brands of washer fluid.

Washer fluid and coolant smell very different.... At least every washer fluid/coolant i've ever used. One smell like alcohol, other smells sweet.

Maybe it’s the coolant. But smells like radiator fluid to me. Either way smelling it when my heats in, not when the AC was

Drove down (up?) to the lovely town of Kenosha today. Heat was on the whole way, ~71-74C, no coolant smells. I played around with the vents and floor positions, same result. Is yours a pretty strong smell? Goes away after a brief while or ongoing the whole time the car/heat is on? If the latter, good luck....

I've had the coolant smell since my car was new. I now have 35000kms on the car. The smell only happens when my car is cold and I start it in my garage in the morning. I smell it for the 5secs it takes for me to back out of the garage and I never smell it again until the next start up. I checked my coolant reservoir when the car was cold today and it was right on the low line. I was concerned until I checked after a drive and the coolant line was exactly on the full line, so from what I can tell my car hasn't consumed any coolant in 3+ years even though I can smell it most mornings.

which coolant pipe? i've had the smell for almost 2 years now. I lose coolant very slowly, like 3k miles to go from full mark to bottom mark (cold).
the pipes that go behind the engine the 2 large coolant pipes .
