What do you think? It's at the L line. I didn't let mine get that low.
do you know what causes the coolant level to drop? i have no idea about this stuff. im guessing its never been checked by service. What do you think? It's at the L line. I didn't let mine get that low
yes you can buy the coolant at the dealer or at most parts stores .. and fill as needed , mine loses about an inch between 3k mile oil changes ,, it does not seem ok to be losing a consistent amount of coolant but well see .i just left the service department and got the coolant filled. it was like an inch lower thismorning than what my picture showed yesterday. they said, ahhh its a little low. they said its normal for newer cars to fluctuate that way, and that its 50% water, didnt see any leaks. im just thinking, man, thats a lot of back and forth to the dealership. can we just buy the coolant for our stingers and fill it once a month at home? i saw in the manual it says to check it once a month.
something new, i smelled burning oil on my commute this morning coming thru the vents. im pretty sure it was my car and no one around me. i checked the dipstick and its fine.
Yeah, you get dust and other stuff accumulated on the heater core when not in use. Then the first time you use it, it gases off and you smell it. Even a house furnace will do that.no the smell comes and goes on mine , but im sure its the rear coolant pipe o rings that leak vapor after it sits , in my case
also my car had a nasty smell in the vents when the weather turned cold from using the heat for the first time but that went away after
a short bit .
yes sir as i statedYeah, you get dust and other stuff accumulated on the heater core when not in use. Then the first time you use it, it gases off and you smell it. Even a house furnace will do that.
If you keep using it, you won't notice any smell because it burns off before it can accumulate.
the overflow is sealed , it does not vent . and yes the g70 guys have the same issue , i think its vapor bleeding from the back of the engine coolant tubes past the o-rings on the cooling block thing .I smell it after a hard drive, or if you just let it sit and idle for a long time. I think like a previous guy said.. it's venting the overflow tank... makes perfect sense. And it evaporates quicker (like another poster said) which is why after 20k miles I had to add a little to go from right below L to H when cold on my V6.
If it was a head gasket, you'd know by looking at the oil or the coolant tank. I bet if you go to a G70 board they're saying the same thing.
I agree. smell is strongest at the rear left side of the engine on mine.the overflow is sealed , it does not vent . and yes the g70 guys have the same issue , i think its vapor bleeding from the back of the engine coolant tubes past the o-rings on the cooling block thing .
I also had the same issue as everyone else and was told it was somewhat normal, it’s not, it ended up being a bad water pump, my guess is there’s probably a lot of them that have this defectI’ve smelled Coolant since my stinger was new. I notice it more when I’ve driven the car hard. I never smell it in the car but I can get a hint of it when I open the door or stand near the hood. I have not seen any leaks or loss of coolant. The car has 5000km on it now. Do you guys notice the same thing? My 2015 rubicon had a bit of a coolant smell as well and same with my genesis r spec v8. I’m guessing it’s just the way the coolant system works and it’s just the smell from the breather.
